bow seems in tune BUT!!
it goes against what I was told! I set the cam in time cable & string took awhile turn here twist their then I checked the tiller off by A hole turn! can this be right?
I was told to turn both equal but to get them straight I had to turn one making it uneven. I am shooting bullet holes but my knocking point is dead even with the rest .if I raise it bad paper tear all would be good but with the even arrow im pulling the arrow off the rest.. HELP |
RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
Are some of these newer bows as perpelexing to tune as it sounds by this message.....or is it a phraseology problem? :)

RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
PA,if you are shooting a 1 cam you do not check tiller by measuring to the bow string. You measure tiller by running a string from 1 axle to the other axle and then measure to that string, not the bow string.

RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
If you're shooting a loop (which I assume you are) the loop to tight on the nock may be causing you to lift the arrow off the rest.

RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
I thought it was axle to axle I seen on A site that they did it on the string.
I messed with the string & cable for couple hrs. it's close but not perfect Im going to shoot more see if string scretchs any more. thanks! |
RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
Definitely do not measure it to the string on a conventional single cam bow. It will give you a false reading and hours of worthless tinkering...if there is such a thing...;)

RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
I say forget about that paper tune and start bare shaft tuning and group tuning with broadheads. Chances are, you'll find that you need to adjust the nock point anyway.

RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
ya I'm back to normal now after A lot of worthless tinkering!
Shoots the same as it did before I tuned the cam. I paper shoot with bare shaft to check the knocking point all good! Does anyone file the knock out to make it not so tight on the serving ? I honesly think thats why my arrow was lifting from the rest I have'nt messed with it tonight I did loosen up the loop. OR another question! I seen A picture with knocks inside the loop anyone do this? I did it to mine I like it seems to look like a flatter surface for the arrow. |
RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
DON'T file nocks grooves. Reserve with a thinner serving.

RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
ok don't file thanks,
yes inside the loop why 2 nocks 4 all together? |
RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
JAY, what nocks are you using? If it's uni-nocks then you could possibly try 3D versions. They have a slightly larger throat size. Definitely reserve the string with the right size serving. You should be able to hang the bow vertically with an arrow nocked, tap the string a good shot and the arrow falls off. Maybe just a tad tighter for hunting.
And the reason to have four nocksets on the string is to slow the bow down. There are better alternatives. The less junk you got on your string the better. |
RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
Jay,
Two of the knots ( the outside most) are the knots to hold the string loop onto the bowstring. The two inside knots are there to give space between the arrow nock and the string loop knots so that there is not significant string pinch issues. |
RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
PA, you nailed it:),
I also when using a string loop will tie on a serving nock( small amount of serving tied onto the string ) above the loop and then one inside the loop above the nock and one inside the loop below the nock...... I do this to keep the nock from being pinched by the loop and to keep the loop in position... although I dont use the tied on nock below my loop I personally dont find it necesarry for myself..... if the loop is pinching the nock it will lift your arrow right up off the rest. If you sand your knocks none will be axactly the same as the others all will vary slightly, and may fly differently and I prefer total consistancy. You will also find different nocks by different manufacturers will fit your string differntly, I find Gold tip lock nocks so tight they tear up my centerserving, where as Easton and CXL nocks seem to fit my serving perfectly, shop around to find the nock that performs best, meets your requirements, meets arrow specs and fits your string properly and if that dosent work then try to reserve your centerserving. |
RE: bow seems in tune BUT!!
