Cant get any knots to hold

I have had trouble with the bottom knot on my string loop sliding up. I decided to tie a small string nock, just enough below the arrow to keep this from happening. I cant seem to get the knots to hold. I dont know what I'm doing wrong. I am using the over and under knot like many of you have suggested for tying string nocks. Do you use glue?

I just tie them really short to start.....burn the ends into a pretty good sized mushroom (wait til' they cool)then get a screwdriver or something smooth and strong and hang onto the string with one hand and slide the screwdriver into the loop with the other(putting fingers on each side of the loop) and pull like hell!! Mine seat down very nicely and DO NOT move.....I can make them move by spinning them up or down the serving, but they sure as heck aren't sliding anywhere that's for sure!

The first shot with a new loop is always a leap of faith!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

My bottom know will move up if I draw back without an arrow nocked, but other than that I have no problems. One thing to check would be your serving. Make sure it's in good shape so the rope nock can bite into it good.

ALL shots with one are a leap of faith:). Shot one for years and always look at that itty-bitty burnt end and wonder how it keeps from coming out (especially when you watch it slide the first time right up to the burnt end).

Another way is to leave the stub ends longer and then serve them onto the string. Hope that makes sense. The downside is that doing so prevents one from turning the loop to get it to move up or down. On the positive side it adds a lot of confidence that the ends are not going to pull out.

before install loop i put string wax on last 1&quot; of each end of loop, install, set up arrow then use a match to heat up wax JUST ENOUGH TO MELT WAX ABOUT 2 OR 3 SEC. EACH SIDE
hope this helps

Matt summed it up real well.

The knots that I have tied are much like Matt has stated. They can be moved by twisting them but it isnt easy. Once I get It set I put my release on the loop and pull it, take a few shoots and it tightens right up. I would check your serving and make sure your loop is tied properly. All that I have tied properly have tightened as they are shoot.

Try using beez wax before you shoot. Do what c4extreme said with a screwdriver and then melt a little wax on the end s of your loop.
This will help them from pulling through and also with holding them in place. As long as you don't use to much, it will still be pretty flexible. Chris

I use the same &quot;screwdriver&quot; method as stated by Matt/PA, and like him , I shut my eyes and try to pull away from my face the first time as well! If you pull real hard, as hard as you can, it will not move once seated.
