I've got a Woodie™

Stabilizer that is:D This one is made out of purple heart and is 10 1/4 inches long and weighs 8 ounces. It's got that dead solid feel of a baseball home run hit at the shot;) I can hear the crowd cheer as I walk up to pull my arrows:)

Forgive me for not knowing my woods but does it really come in that color or did you do something to it?

Looks nice on the bow. What do you have inside it? Does it actually work or is it just for looks?

Really, Frank. You need to get out more. ;)

I've been thinking about making myself a recurve and combining ebony and purpleheart in the riser.

Gots to admit though, wwag, I've never seen purpleheart used for a stabilizer before. I like it.:)

LOL, can you believe all the commercials on the TV and radio advertizing that stuff???? I think it's pretty funny and sad at the same time. I hope I don't ever have to explain a commercial to one of my grandkids. The Woodie™ has some very top secret stuff inside the 5 3/4 inch chamber;) and I'm not talkin':D Maybe someday if I can get tooled up (pun intended) I'll sell a few of these:D[&:]

I know what you mean by the commercials. I love that parady that Miller light has out of the viagra commercial. You know, where the guys walking tall through a party and everyone is like, "did you wax your back?", "Are you going commando?", and other questions like that...then he gets up to his knockout blonde and she's like, "You went and saw your" then he interuppts and says,"I saw my bartender...and he told me to try this" Then he raises a bottle of Miller Lite Beer. Talk about funny.

Looks cool - nice work:D

I thought of you and this thread last night as I was shooting in my trophy shoot.

This kid steps up to the line next to me with the but end to a flamed pool cue screwed into his bow...........LOL:D

He took it off about half way through because it weighed well over a pound - all at the end[:-]

He was working up a sweat:)

Some of you older guys like davidmil and AuthurP should avoid this post, only us young bucks can get a Woodie. Sure, there are ways to get an imitation, but it's just not the same!! ;)

How many batteries does it take?

Neat! Purpleheart is a beautiful wood. My wife's longbow has a purpleheart riser that contrasts wonderfully with its elm limbs. Purpleheart also makes an exceptionally heavy and tough hunting arrow. My 27" arrows w/ 215 grn broadheads weigh 775 grns.

I shot 4 arrows today with it on, just before I had to go to work;) I shot 3 at 30 yards and ,,, they were getting close to destroying each other[:@] So I backed up to 40 and the last arrow slipped neatly into the group without hitting the others:( I was relieved that I didn't ruin any of my favorite X7's and also noticed that the bow seemed quieter. I'll do some more shooting with it soon:)

I turned and bored it on my lathe,,, what a mess the sawdust makes of my tooling[:o]

WWAG, you're using some South American wood there. It is indeed a beautiful wood. There is also the 'Green Heart' and it yellowish-greenish in color, just as durable a hardwood--then there is also the Bullet Wood all 'heavy species of wood'.
I've got a turkey call made from Purple Heart and was trying my best to post a picture of it here, I can't get the darn thing to work---looks like the 'WOODETTE to your WOODIE'.:D

I have a beutiful custom hybrid longbow from Allegheny Mountain (now defunct) that is the laminated grey/black maple (no brown or green) and has purpleheart overlays, limb tips, and center strip through the riser.

I prefer exotics on my wood bows, and ordered this wood combo on a whim.. I wasn't sure if it would look so good, but I was wrong...the grey lams & purpleheart make for an absolutely beautiful bow.

RE: I've got a Woodie™

I had a woodie when I was 18 or 19, you know a urine induced diamond cutter woodie! So bad that when I went to push it down my feet came out from under me! hit my head on the flush valve and broke the tank too!:D

Be careful you don't knick it with your broadhead!
