Another spine question.
 

Last time I was up at the shop going to shoot the techno hunt I wanted to test fire the axis shafts.

The guy helping out there that day I had never met. He asked what shaft I wanted to shoot I told him i shoot 7595's so the 340. He got this look on his face like I was crazy. He then goes on to tell me I am crazy for shooting the 340's and that I need the 400's. I give him the OK what ever buddy look and fire the the 340. It tore through the paper 3/4 inches high. He then handed me a 400 and it tore perfect.

Pat was there (bowtech shooter) and he seemed to agree that I was over spined shooting the gold tip 7595's and I should back it down to the 5575 or the axis 400. But the bow shoots great for me. I just put up my highest 3d score last weekend a 292/300. What should I do?????

If you are shooting an 28" arrow with 100 grain tips , I think you will be fine with the 400 spine shafts . On the other hand if you are shooting an 29 or 30" arrow with 125 or heaveyer tips i think youd be better off with the 340's . If you've got something working for you now , why mess with sucess ? , besides the drawbacks of shooting an overspined arrow are minimal , compared to shooting an underspined arrow .

As ijimmy made mention of above it normally depends on several variables like point weight, shaft length, etc... I trust Pat's judgement so if the chart recommends it and it tunes well both in terms of paper and group then I would go with it instead of the 340. It seems to make sense if you are thinking of switching arrow brands anyway.

As a side-note, most bows shoot a slightly overspined arrow better than a slightly underspined one.

Thanks guys. I tend to agree not to mess with it if it is working, but then I think what if these guys are right and I should switch?

The guy said to me that shooting a 28 inch 7595 is like shooting tree trunks and telephone poles!! I got a kick out of that lol.

I shoot a 28 inch arrow with 100 grain tips.

Theoretically, the only thing you are really giving up is a bit of speed due to the added weight of the stiffer spined arrow, but it's not that much.

Assuming a behind the nock mechanical release, of course.

Of course I must add this was the hunter stakes not IBO. I ain't that good!!

No matter what you have to adjust the bow to the arrows.
