Montec,Magnus, or Muzzy

I have narrowed my search for broadheads down to these three. Does anyone have any input before I lay down the cash? I will be shooting 100 grain and hunting elk,and mule and whitetail deer. I like the cut on contact, but you can get six muzzy's for the price of three of the other heads.

Magnus Stinger 2 blade, hundred grain. I know they are more expensive, I went through that too, but when I saw the 2 blade pass through a 350+ lb. wild hog. my decision was made. I hunted with muzzy's last season, they were pretty good. a 2 blade will penetrate better than any 3 blade, and fly more accurate also. Elk and mule deer are pretty big game, I definately suggest the magnus stinger.

Without knowing all the details about your setup, I could only recommend a 2-blade head like the Stinger. If the price holds you back, consider the Magnus Nugent head. You'd have to know how to put a sharp edge on a blade, but they're quality heads for a bargain price.

Also, don't rule out the Bear Razorhead Lites.

Muzzy makes a great head and I've never had anything but good results with them on deer. If you're shooting at least 60 pounds on a high performance bow with a medium weight arrow and keep your shot distances reasonably close, I doubt you'd have any problem with them on elk.

All good heads. Muzzy user here although I am going to try some Montecs this year. By the way................a 2 blade head DOES NOT FLY BETTER than a 3 blade head. Everything depends on tuning/setups for each individual.

Here is my set up if it helps 03 Patriot Dually at 74-75 pounds beman ics 400 arrows 26 3/4 inches 27.5 draw length chronographed at 286 before I went to a tru-peep and had rubber tubing so I am guessing about 290 now. I plan on using 100 grain tips giving me a total weight around 405. this equals about 74 pound ke I think.

I think they will all work for you. If cash is a problem even consider the regular line of Magnus heads. You can get six for about $22, and they are very easy to resharpen.

If you consider that Magnus warrantees their heads for life, they are by far the cheapest on the market. The fact that they shoot great, is just gravy.

Ditto what Bob said. That's what I'd choose. Price is right and they are terrific heads.

I've personally only hunted for two years, with kills each year. Year #1...Muzzy 3 blade 100gr. Not a clean pass but got the job done on somewhat high hit. Last year...100gr. Thunderhead. Seemed to fly really well with clean pass through at 20 yards. I think the important thing with ANY broadhead is above all shot placement. If you put it where you're supposed to, most will get the job done.
