Got my WolfDen Bowstrings...mini review
 

I'll make this short and sweet. I have always been unhappy with the stock strings that come on Hoyt bows so I don't waste too much time replacing them when I get a new bow. For the past 4 or 5 years, I have always bought Winners Choice. This year however, sick of spending the 120.00 on a set, I decided to go with another company. I spoke off and on by e-mail with a gentleman at WolfDen bowstrings. He assured me that his strings will not stretch, and the servings will not seperate. All backed by a 100% guarentee. So, I decided to order a set from them in green and tan for my Xtec in 8125 material.

They took at 2 weeks to recieve as they are built to order. I just got them this past week and put them on and here is my observations.

Specs: When I took them out of their packages I measured them. They were pre-twisted to length and right on the money. Perfect!

Construction: All of WolfDen's strings are pre-stretched and pre-twisted before the servings are put on. The end loops are served as well. The servings themselves are tight and they put a coating of some kind on them to minimize wear. The strings flat out look every bit as good as Winners Choice.

How are they doing? I shot the heck out of these strings since I got them Thursday. I initially shot about 50 shots or so without a peep to let the string settle some. After that, I put my peep in and served it in. I placed it in the string so that it was square with my eye at rest and when I drawed the bow back, it was still square. After it was in, I have shot about 150 -200 shot or so through it with no movement in the peep what so ever. I also checked the ATA and it has not changed. Very nice.

So far so good guys. I really like these strings. Not to mention when you order from them they give you a couple stickers as well. :D I'll keep you updated. Total for the system with shipping was 71.00. Compared to 120.00 for WC, can't beat it.

Gld to hear that you like your new strings, but $120 for Winners Choice? You were getting RIPPED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!

I ordered a Winners Choice string and buss cable for my bow from www.thebowrack.com and the total, with shipping, was $76.50 only $5.50 more than those WolfDen strings!

Where are you guys getting the WC string and cables for $110-$120?

Hey Buck, that price was from Winners Choice. I ordered off of Bowrack too once. First, they took a long time to get from them, then, they ordered the wrong lengths and I had to send them back and you guessed it, took a long time again.

If this set of WolfDen proves as good, they have a long time customer. Great customer service too.

Thats funny that you mentioned how long The Bow Rack took. I ordered mine on March 6th, and guess what, still not here. I called a couple days ago and they told me that they had to order the strings from Winners Choice and Winners Choice was taking a long time to get them to their shop. The guy I talked to told me that they would have the strings on Monday, the 22nd, and they would ship them out as soon as they get them. So, I am figuring that I will have them around the end of next week. So, somewhere around the 25th-26th, so, I will have waited almost 3 weeks for them to come in!

Let me know how those strings hold up, as next time I may go with them!

Thats exactly what I found Buck! I personally don't think they carry too many lengths in stock. Most of their strings they have to order from WC. Of course you probably will get the correct lengths and not have to wait even more time.

Muzzy I was thinking about getting new strings for myxtec. what made you go with 8125 material? I heard that it was not as stable as 652x (I think) but 8125 was faster? let me know how you like it and if you gained any speed? or if it stetches ? thanks alot? Bryan

I have been shooting 8125 with the Winners Choice strings for quite a while and just really like the charectoristics of it. If its pre-stretched, you'll get little to no creep with it. And yes, you are correct, you gain a little speed with it. Not enought to really worry about though. I'll take it to the shop and shoot some through the chrono to get an idea of what speed I gained.

The only thing I can say about the pre-stretched strings is that you do usually get a little more noise and vibration from them. No give in the string, its gotta go somewhere.

Muzzy, I just got an email from wolfden , they said they would recommend TS1 string and ultracam for cables? I need a little help with some input on what material to use? thanks. Please anyone with some input speak up, I'll probably order tommorrow

I'm in the process of trying to decide on what to get for new strings, I beleive my bow has TS1 on it now. I guy at a local shop recommended I try the d75 material, anybody know anything about this stuff? I really don't want to go with something that's going to make my bow louder.
