Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
If you own one of these bows,,,, don't shoot at the same spot:D My neighbor just got one of these babys and I helped him set it up. He was shooting very well and asked if I'd like to try it,,,, O, well ok, I said;) Shooting my arrows at 30 yards and compensating for the difference in sight settings, the second group I shot wrecked yet another pair of my Gold Tip 3D arrows[:@] This is one very nice bow and I was suprised to find that it is much lighter than it looks. The bow is very quiet at the shot, much like the Liberty I shot but with maybe just a bit of jump. Well have to chrono this one maybe this weekend;)

RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
So it was only the bow that shot the arrow so accurately......
Maybe give yourself a little credit as well..... |
RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
I've been eyeing that Pro 40 pretty hard. That 8 1/4 brace height makes my day. Problem is, I can never find a pro shop that has them in stock:(

So it was only the bow that shot the arrow so accurately...... Maybe give yourself a little credit as well..... Your right though she is a sweet shooter with a great feel to it:D Geometry wise its almost Identical to the Mathews Q2XL, a proven target bow, But its a Bowtech..............So it has to be that much better........right??:) Now......If I can just shoot my new BT release a little better:eek::eek:.......................... |
RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
Shooting someone else bow @ 30 yards, compensating on the pin and nailing a Robinhood--Russ you're on FIRE.
Have you tried the new GT Ultralights as yet, got the chance to shoot two a few days ago, must admit, they're an improvement. Now I'm waiting on my first dozen. |
RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
Rack's right! I'm not that good of a shot,,, I've never had a robinhood past 30 yards:( I've learned though that I shouldn't be shooting at the same spot at 30 and under while shooting a BowTech;)

RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
I have to agree with ya WWAG... Think maybe we should put a warning label on the bow somewhere...;)
I shot my last round of a ten week animal league the other night and out of the 30 shots I mucked up 3 of my X7's (good thing I took 6 with me huh?) :D |
RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
Congrats WWAG that's some good shooting
Double Creek, I've been eyeing that Pro 40 pretty hard. That 8 1/4 brace height makes my day. Problem is, I can never find a pro shop that has them in stock |

RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
Ampa, I'm going to have to get something,, very soon also!! I'm down to 4 of these Gold Tips,,,,,, split nock ends, robinhoods and one arrow lost due to taking a very long shot at a 3D on a bet, and lost[:@] Just a little low though;) Maybe that's the problem, I need to shoot crooked arrows at 30 yards and under????[&:] Lots of good talk about the Axis has me leaning that way for 3D work.
|
RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
WWAG--crooked arrows may be the answer!! Ha!
I too have been eyeing the Axis, read a few posts, Ausie Guy thread was quite encouraging and I'm on the edge of being converted!! However, reminising on my Dad's advise--he had always told me not to change the things that work--change those that does not. The thing is, my bow is set up with the NAP QT3000 and to date I've had no problems with it. Changing to the Axis could mean changing my rest as the diameter of the AXIS is so small it's going to be difficult trying to set the forks of the rest and using offset vanes--seems almost impossible. Unless I install a 'launcher arm' but that may still not help. Seems like only a drop away will work with the Axis arrows, more so if I wanted to use the NAP Quikspin vanes in the future. What's your thoughts--guess you're already using a drop away? |
RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
Ampahunter.
The Axis and the quick spin fletches should be ok as long as you fletch the vanes straight;) Russ. I am sure I have 1/2 a dozen or so not exactly straight allums here I could send ya so that should take care of the problem:D Edit they are also good for shooting around corners :D |
RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
Nope, I have seen WWAG shoot...it definitely is the bow.....
:D I might look into getting a long axle to axle length bow again next year. After having shot shorties for the last few years it might offer up a bit of a change....for 3D that is....;) |
RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
Buying a Pro 40 would be a mistake. After all the junk you have stirred up about the Bowtechies around here, I would be forced to devote at least a 100 hundred posts either in refernce to or dipicting you eating crow BTW, it wouldn't be my first BT ;) |
RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
Ampa, yes there is one of my drop away rests on my neighbor's Pro 40. That's one of the reasons I'd like to try the Axis as I'm sure they will work with my rest. I understand not wanting to change what is working, I subscribe to the same theory most of the time myself especially when there's lots of money involved in 'trying" something new. The archery message boards are a dictionary of knowledge by regular guys like us that post their findings on new equipment. This takes away some of the fear of trying new stuff by sorting through opinions and thoughts first;) I'd like to see a robinhood with an Axis:D That would be a real feat!!!

RE: Pro40 Freedom Warning!!!
I had the same problem with this bow at 20 yrds on the first 3 arrows. I was trying a friends bow that was a little short on the pull and still had arrows colliding. It must be a defect from the company! :D
