Got a problem with my rest th WB! Need help!
 

I was practicing shooting when I started shooting all over, then I noticed it, my WB deluxe rest came loose, just the vertical adjustment, I bumbed the rest and the biscuit part came out. The set screw backed out and I lost my vertical setting, So what Do I do? Di I step back and paper tune which I have never done before or do I set it alittle at a time untill I am shooting back where I was or what do I do? I kind of want to paper tune it so I know how in the future but dont know If I can read the paper? I am shooting a new xtec hoyt, 27in draw at 68lb with TR matrix sights with a release, if that helps. Thanks! for the help! I am in a panic! My bow is out of tune!

I looked at the threads where you've posted. Didn't your Dealer do anything for you??

Hoyt and other manufacturers choose their Dealers to represent their product and tune it properly. At least that's what is supposed to be done. Then again, some Dealers sell their products cheaper - and that's just what you get.

As far as your problem, it sounds to me like your bow may not have been tuned in the first place when you stated "...and paper tune which I have never done before...". I would find a reputable PRO Shop and have them tune the bow properly. This also includes making sure everything is installed/tightened properly. You should also get a guarantee with the work the PRO Shop does.

Diddo, I wouldn't hand over a check until I was sure they have had everything set up correctly, and the bow properly tuned. Sometimes things change as strings stretch etc.. I would take it back & have them go through it properly and pay close attention to how they paper tune the bow. Don't be afraaid to ask questions on how or why they are adjusting certain things, then in the future if a problem arises you may be able to put the final touches on a well tuned bow.

Now wait a minute. You have to remove TWO setscrews, and then TWO screws in the back to get the bisquit to fall out. Sounds like you did more than bump it.

Hang on guys, I guys I didnt explain myself good enough. Yes my dealer tuned it and it was shooting great. I think only one screw had loosened up, no let me restate that! Only one screw had loosened up. this is the One screw that lets you make your vertical micro adjustments. I know the rest is out of adjusstment up and down nothing else. Do I retune it or shoot and adjust accordly.

From your nocking point to your rest, the arrow should be pretty much level. I would think the shop would have set the rest height so that the arrow is at the same height as the threaded hole where the rest mounts. If it were mine, I would set it there, and see how the arrow looks. If it looks level and at a 90degree angle with the string (which you could measure with a small square, then that is how the shop probably set it before it moved. I would try that and see how it shoots for you. You should probably take it back to the shop and tell them what happened anyway. They will most likely tell you how it was set up.:)

If your bow was tuned correctly and you have made no other adjustments.............it stands to reason that if you just adjust it back to where your hitting correctly with your sight............it would be back in the correct position for you !!

I agree with CBM SC, if nothing but your vertical is off, just get it so the arrow hitting where it was. It wouldn't hurt to learn how to group tune and put your setting through a real tuning process. Whenever anything has moved, I group tune.

I also recommend that you take some very careful measurements and write them down. This way, whenever something goes wrong, you can get very close without much trouble. Things that I write down: Axel to axel lenth, distance of string nock from axel, centershot position of arrow (vertical and horizontal).

After I get a perfect tune, I do one more thing to make it easy to get back to this position. I cut a small block of wood that fits against the riser, that is the exact distance I'm looking for. When a setting is moved, getting back to this exact position requires no more then a couple seconds.

Thats a great idea Straightarrow. I am going to do that. I have adjusted my rest so it is hitting in the same location, and I did a little group shooting and they are gouping just as tight as before. I think that is what you mean by group tuning? But I still have a couple of ? about tuning a bow. First what does that actually mean and How do you know its out of tune? Is their a book or video you can get to help you step by step go through the tuning process? And what do all of you do to tune your bow. what steps do you take? Paper tune? Bare shaft? Fletched shat? what distances? I guess the big ? is how do you know its out of tune?
