peep size
does anyone know a method of finding out what peep hole size is best for a perticular setup, or should I just shoot lots of differant sizes and note the results?
Thanx |
RE: peep size
It depends on a lot of things. Are you going to use it for hunting? If so, a larger diameter peep is needed to allow more light through for low light conditions. Also, if you have problems seeing through a small peep, you will have to go to a larger size.
In general though, a smaller peep is better for target shooting and a large 1/4" for hunting is better in my opinion. |
RE: peep size
The size of the peep should be just large enough to allow you to see the entire sight cage. Another way to put it is to make sure you can get the sight cage concentric to the peep.
I have found so many cases where the archer tries to center each individual pin (on a multi-pin sight) into the center of the peep. Locating/centering the cage and then moving the respective pin to the point on the target usually allows the archer to achieve much better accuracy; especially at longer distances. The main reason for this is that the anchor points are maintained properly. |
