bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
im in between the four prong bodoodle or the whisker biscuit HELP ME!!!!
|
RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
I dont know about the 4 prong bodoodle, but I have been using a 2 prong bodoodle and love it. I have heard some mixed things about the whisker biscuit. Honestly, I cant see how those bristles dont interfere with arrow flight.

RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
is the bodoodle not loud when you draw? it looks like them metal prongs would make noise
|
RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
Yes, they are. I use teflon tape on mine. With Gold Tips, it doesnt last long, but it works very well. I just put fresh strips on before season, and I'm good to go.

I've used the Bodoodle rests for years and won't be using the whisker biscuit. I don't have any noise problem, just put finger nail hardener on the prongs if it does get noisy. Haven't tried the new Zapper, but looks like a good rest.

With the fingernail polish, how does it hold up with Gold Tips? Everyone knows how hard they are on stuff. The teflon tape will last me about 100 shots or so.

For my personal use I love the whisker biscuit. Its quiet and impossible to knock your arrow off. The few feet per second you loose is a small price to pay for not knocking that arrow of the rest and hearing that big thump when that big buck looks you in they eye. I've tried that zapper and couldn't get it quiet enough for myself. The fingernail polish helped but still had some scraping noise during draw.

RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
well i have the whisker biscuit on my bow, and i love it!!! the guy that said you will lose 5fps is a lil off. local pro shop owner test it over and over and over on different bows and makes of bows. the result was 1fps is all. that is not bad at all.. if i was you i would get the biscuit, you will love it i promise......
p.s. if you use the biscuit with gold tip arrows it is a little bit loud.....not bad at all, but if you use the new scout mountain epsilons you will not hear it at all ..... great arrow!! they are the best arrows for the biscuit.... cabelas told me, so i got them. they are right.... |
RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
Muzzyman, when I was using the fingernail polish with Gold Tips, I got about 10 shots before they wore through the polish... but very easy to reapply, and a bottle of the stuff only cost me $.97...

I use the Bodoodle Pro 500 on my hunting rig, and have sold many Pro-Lite's as well. They are rugged and dependable, and I've never had a problem. Pinwheel 12

RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
How much you loose on the wisker buscuit depends on the arrow weight and type...carbon, aluminum etc,,... The average is around 4 to 5 fps...I know this to be true from using one myself and testing several different arrow weights and types...It is nice in the respect that arrows do not drop off the rest....The amount you will loose in fps does not descredit the wisker biscuit. I reccomend trying both if you know someone that has them..Trial is the only way to find out if it works for you..

RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
I just installed the new zapper 400. It can truely be configured in any direction, it is completely reversable, left, right, and up side down. I installed mine up side down, so I have what would be a common bodoodle rest on the bottom and a single that rides on the top of the arrow. Shoots perfect. My camoed Gold Tips are quiet as can be.

RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
Hi, I use the Bodoodle Zapper. Works well for me. I had concerns about draw noise so I called Bodoodle. The Gentleman there gave me the advice about using the teflon nail polish. However another tip he mentioned that works for any rest is >CHAPSTICK< When you head out just put a little daub on the rest where the arrow touches and it quiets it right down. (He did not specify any particular flavour.) It's only good for that one shot, but isn't that all you really need in the field?

RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
When I first got the whisker biscuit, I lost 4 fps with my arrows. I then trimmed the back and cut notches for the vanes to pass through and now there is no difference in speed from a regular rest, and the biscuit still works as good as before. It's simple in design, easy to adjust, rugged and a great rest for hunting. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a rest that is made for hunting situations.
Goldtips are a bit noisy when drawn. KBP, glad to hear the suggestion to use Scout Mountain Epsilon arrows. I'll have to give them a try. |
RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
Be a little cautious with the Epsilons. I got a dozen last year and half of them cracked when I installed the nocks. Long story but I hate to see anybody get hurt.
|
RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
tm, I've been using the Epsilons with no problems whatsoever. Very tough arrows. I hit a steel beam at the range with one. Ground the point off on one side (sparks were flying) and the nock broke. I put in a new point and nock, and it's fine. I can't imagine the correct nocks cracking these arrows. Quite a few people shoot them and I don't see many in the junk barrel.

Anyone who shoots fingers use the bodoodle? I'm looking for a good rest for my cousin who shoots fingers.

RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
Come on guys, you should know better than put fingernail polish on a rest that is gonna be used for hunting. It chokes me when my wife uses it, I'm sure a deer could smell it a mile away.

Clear Teflon Polish (or also Nail Hardener) has no scent >after it dries<.

RE: bodoodle? or whisker biscuit?
I tried both this year, and the Zapper got put in the cabinet to try another time. It actually was harder to tune than the biscuit I thought. I tried them both on 3 different bows. The biscuit holds the arrow better than the zapper, if you brush against something with the zapper it knocks the arrow in between the fingers and makes noise. With the biscuit nothing happens. I also shoot with fingers and it really flies good. I use a release also sometimes and that worked well too. I am getting 266 fps with my Accutec set at 64 lbs and 425 gr arrow at 30". What good is 5 fps if your arrow just fell off your rest? I thought the zapper made more noise than the biscuit too.
