Yep. That's it in a nutshell. Figured I'd post it seeing as this is a BOWHUNTING forum.;)

We can debate hybrids versus twins versus solos all we want, but it's proof-positive that against the very best, they are winning.

Congratulations to Grant Schleusner for taking the Bowhunter Freestyle Vegas Championship with an outstanding 299/300/300 with his Merlin Max 3000 and Merlin Tri-Axis sight with a pin. Great shooting, Grant!

OK, but if we are going by number of wins shouldn't we just go ahead and crown Mathews and the solocam the king[:'(]

Of course we all know, that with these top shooters, the type of bow or cam system doesn't come into play. We all know that shooters of this claiber can win with whatever equipment they pick up. Or does that argument just work when it's being used to refute why brand X or cam system X hasn't been winning tourneys, I get confused[:-];)

You are correct, any shooter of this caliber can win with anything. No question.;)

The recent talk about the validity of hybrids as a forgiving and accurate system is what prompted me to bring this up, as well as congratulating Grant in the process---let's not take anything away from him and/or his accomplishments here!;) Sure he could've probably won with anything, but the bottom line is that he did it with a Merlin, and was NOT paid to shoot them. It is what he felt was the most accurate bow for him to get the job done with, and it certainly did.;) (You may see him on the Merlin Staff next year tho!) Pinwheel 12

I was talking recently with Grant at our State shoot- he absolutely loves his Max3k!

Must be that camo that makes it shoot so well.... ;)

I certainly don't won't want to take anything away from Grant as he has accomplished something that very few will ever be capable of. I just felt like Merlin was getting the credit in the original post rather than Grant.;)

I don't think anyone here would disagree with that assessment. It's when folks start throwing the word "superior" in the mix that gets the questions start to arise.;)

I don't know, I am still trying to figure out the rules;) It seems like tourney wins have no valididty.........................unless brand x or cam x won and then they are perfectly valid. It also seems like the shooter is the most important part of the equation.....................unless the shooter shoots brand x or cam x and then they are shooting the best bow or cam etc.. It seems like when a Maaaaaaaattt (I can't even bring myself to say it[:'(]) or other manufacturer wins, it's purely shooter, but when brand x wins, those are some fantasitc bows.[:-]

I don't know maybe it was the camo or maybe he was the best shooter that day;) I think it all depends on who you are asking and which side of the fence they are on that day[:-];)

Agreed 100%! At Vegas, a mere one or two point difference is what separated the top position from number two , and that's after THREE DAYS of shooting!

Absolutely correct!

BUT, having seen many hundreds of posts touting OTHER manufactuers (some on a daily basis it seems) I am certainly going to tout not only Grant but Merlin bows as well for this one as it is such a great achievement.

If (insert favorite brand here) did it, wouldn't each one of you be spewing about it?;)
