Q2XL question
 

I have looked at and I am considering matthews Q2XL. How is it as a hunting bow? My primary concerns are reliability(do you have to tinker with it to keep it shooting straight), noise, does it shoot broadheads just like field points? I have not had very good luck with these factors when I went to a faster bow in the past. What is your setup as far as arrows, broadheads, etc. I have been shooting 31" 2315's with 125 thunderheads.

The Q2XL is a quality bow and shoots good. Not that much trouble to tune and seems to hold it's tune well. That said it's not a speed bow, but not designed for that. Smooth draw and reliable. With the smoothness of draw it actually feels like you're drawing less pounds.

Q2XL is a nie bow & should give you years of surface. I also really like the Q2 as a hunting bow.

The Q2XL will make a fine hunting bow.Mine holds its tune IMHO better than most of my other Mathews and is also the quietest of the ones that I own.
With the 38" ATA and 7.5"brace it is a very forgiving bow,I have used mine for 3D the last 2 years,but it will be retired to a back-up or a hunting bow once my Conquest2 arrives.

Kansaswiderrack, Of all the bows I own, currently the Q2XL is my favorite. It is smooth to draw, dead in your hand on release, and shhh...verwy verwy quiet. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I took it elk hunting in Sept., then hunted whitetails from Oct. to Jan. and when I shot it through paper the other day it gave me a perfect bullet hole. In other words once tuned, it has given me a season free of having to tinker with it. I think the MZE. rest has help too.

It isn't the fastest bow in my stable but certainly from my point of view it is the most pleasant to shoot and as a result I feel I am more accurate with it.

I shoot Carbon express 400 arrows with a four inch fletch. I have shot a wide variety of broadheads both testing and in the field with no problems.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the bow to anyone. Of course what I like in a bow you or someone else may not so it is always a &quot;try before you buy&quot; proposition.

Thanks for the input. It does sound like a bow for me. One last question, is this a bow I should shoot with a release?

How much more stable is the Q2XL than the Q2? If you were strictly buying a hunting rig looking for forgiveness and accuracy which would make the better bow??

good question! I have been looking into 3 bows to buy this year (Q2, Q2XL, & the Lecacy) right now I am leaning towards the Q2XL, it just seems more stable to me and feels really good. I think the extra length really helps. really at 38&quot; ATA it's still not that long of a bow.
