Arrow selection

I'm looking for a good hunting set-up for my new bow. I have an 03 BT Patriot, NAP QT 4000, 29" draw @ 70lbs. I would like to use the 100 grain Montec G5's I didn't get to use this season. Shaft suggestions welcomed. My old set-up was 29" XX75 superlite's 2413 w/ 125 g. thunderheads. Thanks.

There are a few online shaft selection sites that you can visit. Have you decided between alum or carbon?

Here is one site:

I started shooting carbons w/ my old set-up and liked them, so i think I want to stick w/ them. The carbons I was shooting were only ~305 grains w/ broadhead so I think they are underweight for 70 lbs. CX 200's 28".

PA257 - I believe that if you are at 70#, you arrows are too light.

I believe most manufactures require to stay at 6 grains per pound for their warranties. You would need to be shooting an arrow around 420 grains not 305gr.

I'd go to the website I posted and plug your numbers in to see what arrows it recommends. As for carbons - I've had good success w/ Beman ICS-H.

Cougar- I meant, I want to stick w/ carbons. The ones I have are much too light for my current set-up (70lbs) and I have not used them w/ my new bow. Are my old xx75 camo hunters 29" 2413 w/ 125 gr. too light as well? When I bought my patriot (used) it came with 3 a/c/c 3-60/340 with 3-D duravanes. These are nice arrows but a little pricey. Thanks.

If your looking for a carbon hunting shaft, I would take a look at the new Easton Axis shafts. I just got my dozen and are in the process of putting them together as we speak. So far, I very impressed with the straightness of them and I just spun six broadheads on a dozen shafts and all but two were perfect[:o]. Very cool setup.

Time will tell how they hold up, but I think JeffB could answer that part of the equation better then me right now. I'll start shooting the snot out of them this weekend though.:D
