glue decision
I have always used the instant glues for carbons and vanes but now I have dipped my arrows and want to use feathers instead of vanes.
What glue is suitable for this application? |
RE: glue decision
I have fletched my share of arrows and found that the super glue gell works great. However this can be tricky with the arizona fletcher. The glue wont soak into the base of the fletch. After fletching I pulled as hard as I could on the fletch and the feather ripped before the base let loose. I would't recommend fletching tape. I have seen several people use this and the feathers will statrt to move with time. The fletch Jig should stay on a little longer as there are a few more forces working against the glue until it hardens. Hope this helps.

RE: glue decision
Goat Tuff glue works extremely well also. Before using Goat Tuff I used regular CA glue from the hobby store which cost like $4 a tube. Make sure that when fletching w/ these glues to hold pressure on the fletching clamp for 5-10 sec... I've had better luck when doing it that way.

RE: glue decision
Flex-Bond is working well for me and shows no sign of coming off the shaft. The dry time is longer and more forgiving than CA.
