Hoyt Ultratec
 

I am thinking of trying a hoyt ultratec this year with spiral cams and was wondering what your opinions are of this bow? I have shot mathews for a long time, but unless they have something more to offer I might try something different. The ovation is the only bow even catching my eye. I am not loyal to any certain brand, and will shoot whatever I like and can shoot well. I am kind of new to all the options you can get on the hoyts such as the cam 1/2 and spiral cams. Which is better(in your opinion)? I have a 29 inch draw length and shoot about 67 pounds. I use a string loop and release too. Give me some input. Thanks and good shootin" Bhunter32.

I have a 2003 Protec with the Spiral cam system. The spiral cam 1/2 is not as smooth as the regular cam 1/2 but gives extra speed. The feel of this cam is harder than the cam 1/2. The wall is solid. I was going to order the Ultratec but Hoyt's specs in their catalog on draw lengths were incorrect so I went with the Protec. I have put over 1,000 shots through the bow and no problems. My set up is set at 86 lbs, at 32" draw and shooting 560 grain Gold Tips 7595 (with weight tubes and 125 grain head) the bow shoots 287. I will tell you, that on cold mornings and especially now in new Jersey Winter bow season that the spiral cam is hard to break over.

I have just ordered the ultratec in spiral cam 1/2, I spent lots of time shooting several bows Hoyt, and Mathews. The cam and 1/2 is smoother than the spiral cam, but I went for more speed for the 3D's. I will say that at full draw the spiral cam is ready to go but just in a few shots you can get use to it. You have to go and shoot one that cam is not for everyone.
