My Liberty and Trophy Taker Pics

Okay guys,

Here are the pics of my Liberty with the Trophy Taker Shakey Hunter rest attached to the cable slide. I had it out shooting today and not a single flyer :D I was drilling them in there out to 35 yards!!!

Okay guys, have at it :D

Nice looking setup BM. :) How much did the bow run you alone, if you don't mind?

Definitely a pretty bow and a nice setup. :) Did you decide on a stabilizer yet?

Nice job BM.:)
I still have to decide on a rest for my Liberty.
Did you put something on that TT? It looks fuzzy;)

RE: My Liberty and Trophy Taker Pics

Frank,

I still am undecided, the only time that I will be decided is when I have the stabilizer here at my house :D I was messing around with a 1" Doinker on the back and a Simms Stabilizer Enhancer on the front and it balanced the bow very well. I really would like a Stealth stabilizer but, I want something light! I talked to Jerry about it and he said that the lightest one he could make would be about 6 ounces, which I am still considering!

Camo,

Trophy Taker gives you a piece of felt that has a sticky backside, and you just cut it and put it over the arrow cradle to keep the noise down! It seems to work very well, as I just had my bow out again for my second round of shooting today and I was paying attention to noise, to see if I could hear my rest. All I could hear was a slight thump, which was from my arrow hitting the target!!!!!! :D

BM I have a justice on order and I will be going with the same rest, Im
wandering if it will work on the justice with the cable guide, as you know the
justice is shorter and a longer brace height.

RE: My Liberty and Trophy Taker Pics

jag-mag,

I am not sure if connecting to the cable slide will work on the Justice or not. Heck, it isn't supposed to work on this bow. I am just kinda "testing" it out! I am gonna shoot this set-up for awhile, and fine tune my sights, then, see if it works fine consistantly or not. So far, it is working great, but only time will tell! I havn't noticed any fletch contact with either the cables, rest, or the attachment cable.

Hey Buck,

Just a word of warning for you. I noticed you ran the cord for the TT through the hole on the rest and then tied a knot on the backside. That's what I did as well, but after a while, that metal loop that it runs through started wearing my cord pretty bad. It kinda digs into the cord when the rest comes up. The piece on the TT that you run the cord through is designed for the cord to be pulling from a down direction, not an up direction, hence the wear that you will see after some extended shooting, at least I did.

What I did to correct this was instead of making a knot, I ran it through and made a loop back to the cord again, and served it up. This way it can pivot on the TT and not cause any wear. Perhaps TT has changed that part of the rest so this is no longer an issue, I don't know; I've had my Shakey for a while now.

Not sure if you'll have this issue or not, but keep an eye on it.

BM, that looks great, I'll be putting the Shakey HUnter on my Justice just as soon as my 60 limbs arrive, put I'm thinking about serving my pull line into the cable to prevent the problem HOTLZ was talking about. I haven't decided for sure but I think I'll but my TRophy Ridge sights on but I may wait to see what comes back from the ATA next week.

RE: My Liberty and Trophy Taker Pics

BM & holtz If you reverse the way the cord runs through the TT hole It will not wear and also make sure the rest comes up all the way everytime. What I mean is put the end of the cord on the other side of the tab and run the cord up through the hole and back to the cable slide. We have had to do this when putting a TT on the 2 cam and attaching it to the cable slide. If you need I will try to get some pics. They are worth a 1000 words. Junkie

Junkie, that's a good idea. I was concerned about the angle of the cord to the tab. I tried using the slide on a P40 F cam. It was very inconsistent and bound the cables. I'll try running the cord as you suggested. It should change the angle.

HotLZ 01-15-2004 07:51 AM

RE: My Liberty and Trophy Taker Pics

That is a good idea Bowjunkie. Sounds easier than making a loop like I did. I'll keep it in mind next time I need to do that.

A better way IMO to run that rest off a slide is to run the string through the hole the oposite way (with the knot facing the shooter) then wrap the cord around and under the bar then to the slide.

This gains much more leverage to pull up the rest and is the way Bowtech and TT recommended doing it off the slide.

No...I was just trying to figure out how much I was gonna save by not having to have one :D

Actually I'd love one, but it's a little out of my league right now....the kids gotta eat ya know! [:-] Besides, I can probably get a single cam patriot cheap soon...I know someone that's gonna have a hard time resisting the new bowtech's for much longer. ;)

Frank:

That has to be THE bargain of the site at this point. With 4 days to go, I hope the bidding gets going a little stronger for you. Nice pics BTW.

I missed it at first, thinking I was looking for a 2004 Mighty Mite VFT![:o]

(Of which, BTW, there has been no review!);)

Jeff,

No, the MM is going to be my hunting bow for next season....:)...and maybe spring turkey too. I just finished overhauling my setup on it because of some accuracy problems I was having. I should post a pic of it now...:D

Anyway, as for the review...there will be one but I have been sort of waiting for Matt or Jeff to post something on their bows first. If they don't put up anything by the ATA show then I will have it up for you to read.

I am going to add a little something extra this time....you folks oughta get a kick out of it...:)

Though we did discuss this individually, what is the deal with hooking it over the metal loop instead of through it?

Congratulations on your new bow BM. I sort of envy you guys getting a new bow already.;)

Questions for those using dropaway rests that utilize a steel cable or a cord......is there any noise at all from the rest? Was thinking of a Bodoodle Game Dropper......no cable or cord and its supposed to automatically reset, but don't hear much about anyone using it.

Coug..IME, no more than my NAP 3000 that I had on my Liberty when I first got it. In fact I'd say my TT is a bit quieter. Not much, but a bit. Just pad the shelf & launcher w/ moleskin/fleece.

PDQ, That is what I am talking about. Thanks For the pic. Junkie

RE: My Liberty and Trophy Taker Pics

junkie, thanks for the great idea. As you can all see, the cord pulls in a more downward direction this way (when hooked to the slide). Which is what is needed to lift the launcher. I got to shoot the P40 today and it worked perfectly. At 30 yds (max indoor) the X ring was getting pounded. The rest came up consistently, and dropped consistently, every time. I'm very pleased with how it works set up this way. It's much easier to get the timing of the rest just the way I wanted it. I'll most likely be buying the Trophy Takers in the future. I don't hear any noise from them, and they're quieter than the NAP 4000s I have on my other bows.
