Accu-wheel or command cam?
 

I'm about to order some LXPro limbs for my 2002 Protec. My question is what are the pros and cons of the accu-wheel versus the command cam? Thanks.

I'm assuming Hoyt is refusing to sell you Cam 1/2 because you're upgrading an older model... I've danced that little waltz with them before.

The Accuwheel has round wheel feel with the performance of a mild cam. It has a wide valley and a very soft wall. Excellent fingers shootin' wheel but I prefer a hard wall for shooting release. It is NOT a super speedy setup, but it's very accurate and very quiet.

The later version Command Cam is a good, high performance hard cam with a long dwell and steep drop into a short valley with a hard wall. Good for both fingers and release. Excellent speed, good accuracy but is a bit noisier than the Accuwheel.

There are times I wish I'd gone for the Command Cams instead of the Accuwheels. I like the wheels though.

Well, I'll give you some input from what I've experienced.

Accuwheel: very easy draw and letoff, but kind of a "mushy" back wall. Since it is a wheel and not more of a lobe-shaped cam, they are rather slow.

Command cams: you'll notice some more slope going into the valley on the draw. Much firmer back wall. You'll gain more speed vs that accuwheel.

We had the accuwheels on my girlfriend's bow. She liked the ease of draw, but could never get used to the spongy back wall. She has shot better now that she is shooting command cams. So if you do like a stiffer back wall, you won't like accuwheels. just my opinion.....

Well, what am I going to say that BF and Arthur have not already commented on. Personally, I feel the hard wall on the Command Cams makes them a more consistant cam for the average shooter but as Arthur made reference to, it depends on the application. Just keep in mind that the Command Cams draw a little stiffer than the Accuwheels so order your peak draw weight accordingly.
