RE: Why don't they spine arrows by fps rating?
Here would be my recomendation: Keep the Easton arrow selector kind of the way it is - ask for arrow length, draw weight, and point weight, but instead of asking for the cam type, ask for the IBO rating of the bow and your draw length. Of course, the selector program would have to be a little more complicated, but it should be able to recommend the ideal arrow spine range for your setup.
Now for a more radical suggestion. Let the bow manufactures recommend a minimum arrow spine for each cam/limb weight/draw length combination, WITH THE ASSUMPTION that the arrow is no longer than the draw length (might not be a good assumption for deflex bows) and the point weight is no more than 125 grains. As long as you don't go under that minimum spine you should be OK. IMHO, overspining is not a problem as long as you shoot a modern compound, a loop, and a release. But that is a discussion for another thread.

HiLeft, Since to determine fps we aren't worried about tune or best flight, the shop or person would simply shoot a stiff IBO weighted arrow through the chrony to establish bow speed.

Don't know if you guys are fans of the computer programs (apparently you are - you use Eastons), but programs like Archers Advantage and The Archery Program (tap) already does what your asking. You put bow info (including speed which calibrates the program to your bow) and arrow info into the program and it will give you arrows (all different brands - not just Easton) that fall into your spine range. You can make arrow length or tip weight or draw weight or draw length adjustments in the program and it will tell how it spines. Easier to play with that than wasting arrows and tips.
