Drop-away Questions

Well I think i'm finally going to do it. I've been thinking of buying a drop-away rest. I've got some Cabelas gift certificates that are burning a hole in my pocket. What does everyone think are some of the best ones. I've been looking at the NAP Quicktune 2000 drop away rest. I'm not into spending $100 on a rest though so price is a factor. What does everyone think of this rest? Is it easy to setup and tune? Or is there another rest out there that you think is better for about the same price? I know drop away's present new problems while on the other hand eliminate other problems, But I figure what the heck I guess I'll give em a try.

PA Hardwoods, what part of the state are you from?

I will have to disagree with Navy on this one. Though the Trophy Taker is a great rest, and I have played with it some, I still think the NAP QT's are the better rest here. I have been using a QT4000 for almost two years and I have not had one problem with it. Very durable and dependable rest. Also, the Micro-adjust is a very nice feature on it, but certainly not neccesary.
This rest has an awfully good containment system as well. It holds the arrow very well at full draw or when relaxed with the arrow holder.

The only reason why I pulled mine off my bow right now is because I like to play with new stuff. But unless I find a better rest, it will go back on no questions asked.

I really like my GKF TKO... paid $36 for it... works very well.

Hey Muzzyman88 I live and work in State College. I work for Advanced Color Graphics on science park road. I read your post about the bow blowing up the other day, did that happen at the Bow Hunters Shop? Was Tom there when it happened? Maybe we could get together and shoot sometime. Yeah I really like the way the NAP quicktunes trap the arrow, and I like to get as much helical on my arrows as possible so a drop away would be right down my alley.

PA Hardwoods, fortunatly, that wasn't the shop. It was down toward Mill Hall at another shop I shoot at occasionally. I shoot at the Bowhunters Shop in Warriors mark frequently. Thats where I buy all my bows. Tom and Sherry are excellent to deal with and their prices are much better than anywhere else I've found.

I work for Penn State University in State College. Yeah, definitely, we'll get together and fling some arrows sometime. PM me or I'll do the same.

As for the QT 4000. Yes, its a great rest. The capture is as good, if not better than everything else out there beside the MZE. Like I said earlier, mine if off my Vipertec right now as I'm in the playing mode for a while. ;) You see, this is the part of the year where I slowly become broke. :D

Hope to hear from you.

I haven't shot my new bow yet (04 Patriot) except for a few tuning shots at the shop (due to darkness), but the Trophy Ridge Drop-zone seems perfect for this thing. It's got a small "stick-on valley" to hold the arrow securely against the riser before draw. This fits me perfectly since I was always used to holding the arrow down against my NAP 3000 prong rest. At draw it's easy to trust the rest to pick the arrow up accurately.

Seems slick so far and I'll let you know if my opinion stays the same after a few undred shots.
