Setting up my Sight pins
I plan on hunting out of a stand in timber. Any recommendations on what yardages my pins should be set up at? I have a 3 pin sight. I think I shuold set it up at 20 yards, 30 yards and 40 yards but I am not sure.

This is really a personnal prefrence. You need to try different ways and see what is most comfortable for you. I personally have one pin sighted in at 25 yards and compinsate for out to 40 yard shots.

If it were me, I would go with a 20 and 40 yard pin. I like having a pin for my longest distance. Makes me feel more confident when shooting that far at an animal being able to place the pin exactly where I intent to hit. With this configuration, you can place the gap between the pin in the center of the deer for 30 yard shots.

RE: Setting up my Sight pins
Since you are not sure of what to set the pins to, I suggest the 20, 30, and 40 yard marks. That way you can see if your arrows are hitting vertically. With that I mean 20 hits at 20, 30 is hitting the same vertical line as 20 (not veering left or right). And 40 is hitting the same vertical line as 20 (not going farther than the 30 yard pin is). This will tell you (at a minimum) if the spine and rest is adjusted correctly and you are not canting the bow. After that, you can see your pin gap and get a good reference of how high or low you may have to hold. And then determine what pin setting is confident to you.
