I shot the new Bowtech's today

Since it has been at least a few hours from the last Bowtech post on this site, I decided to post my findings. :D
I shot both the Liberty and Justice side by side with the same arrows for about an hour today. Both are very smooth to draw and deadly quiet. The Freedom cams are nice: smooth, solid wall, and pretty quick to boot. I kept going back and forth between the 2 and could not find a major difference. With both bows, I was slapping arrows at 20 yards. This was no tuning or major sighting in, just slap a rest and nock on and get the sight close. Both held very well and had little shock after the shot. Balance caused both bows to roll back slightly after the shot, but no stabilizer was installed, which would easily fix this. While I am not really adding anything new to what has already been said, consider it one more vote for the Bowtech line.
I will be purchasing the Justice when the money comes available (need to sell my other bow).

Justice-$596
Liberty-$650? (can't remember exact on Liberty, but I did not thing there was enough difference to justify even the small amount

My wife has her new Patriot VFT and I've shot the Liberty. They are much the same bow with the exception being the cam and idler. Her Pat is only a 26 inch draw but it is as quiet as the Liberty in 29 inch draw, both bows are 60 pounders. The wife's Pat did an even 280 fps at 60/26 and a 300 grain arrow against the speed tag on the bow that said 277 fps. I'm sure in a 29 inch draw you'd feel the difference in the draw cycle on the Patriot, that Liberty almost draws it's self!!![8D]

jmac,
Just curious why you decided to go with the Justice. I also shot these two bows side by side & agree that they are very similar. It was a tough decision between the two but I ended up with the Liberty. The Liberty runs about $85-$90 more than the Justice but I tried not to let that influence my decision. For me, the Justice just felt a little too light & was just a little too short for my liking, but it is an excellent bow & wasn't an easy choice.

BB9, actually she shoots her Tec 29 at 56 pounds but this new Patriot VFT draws smoother. I can tell just by watching her draw the new Pat that she could handle a little more weight, she even says that it's easier.

RE: I shot the new Bowtech's today

Jeepnut, I actually liked the lighter bow. Both shot very well for me, like I mentioned, slapping arrows at 20 yards. The cost was a factor, but not the factor. Hunting here in Oregon, I do mostly walking, all day walking. After a few hours of carrying a bow, my bow arm gets tired. I figured a little less weight would be one way to help. It also seemed to fit better to my existing bow, a Mathews Feather Max. The short ATA did not hurt either, as I like the ability to get into the thick stuff as well. For me, I liked both, but for saving a few bucks (new rest, sight, or arrows??) I will go with the Justice.

Fishon01, I went to Kutch Archery in Yamhill. It would be quite a drive for you, but worth it. Ken is a great guy he set up the bows and let me shoot both for over an hour. I also called Archery World in Vancouver, but their bows were priced higher.

walks with a gimp- sounds like she's pretty tuff to me too. Is that where you got the gimp:)????

I can't see a huge advantage in the Liberty to "justify;)" the price difference. But if a bow fit me better or felt better suited, I find the money to finalize the deal with no what if's.

The 04s all shoot great. The Freedom cam is definetly a very smooth, easy cam to draw. The P40 F cam I've been shooting lately is making me like single cams again.

jmac, I found the light weight of the Justice to my liking too. I think I'll hold my Extreme Solo for a while but the Justice will be coming home soon.

Well, now that your done shooting them, you can go ahead and get serious and buy a Hoyt. :D

Sorry, with all the talk of bowtech these days, I couldn't refuse!

Good luck with the new bow, they are nice.

Not to be too critical Muzzyman88, but I just don't like the Hoyts. I never have. I shot many of them before I bought my Mathews in 98, and I have shot some now. I just don't like the way they fit me. Plus that bridge over troubled waters riser design is for architects not archers. :D

fishono1,
FYI
You can also shoot the Bowtechs @ Sportmans Warehouse in Clackamas & Salem

RE: I shot the new Bowtech's today

You can also shoot the BowTech line at the Factory Pro Shop (located right next to the factory, go figure) in Eugene, OR. if your close by. I know it's a couple hours south of Portland but they do have everything in stock ;):D

muzzyman88, A good friend of mine bought a new Hoyt Hydro Tech the other day. That bow is truly awesome as it seems to dig deep into the sandy bottom and it holds his 25' boat very still...;):D SERIOUSLY....;) Back at ya...;):D

BT shooter,
You are right, that is another option. I E-mailed them and they said they would match the price at Sportmans. I thought about going down there to buy one, but then if I needed to take it back to the shop for any reason it would be a two+ hour drive. It is still a possibility though, they have a good selection.

RE: I shot the new Bowtech's today

I 've been talking to todd at the factory about every week for a month!! He told me he has over 300 bows in. But only the liberty and pro 40 for 04 bows. He also said he should be getting some in by middle of jan. also had his order in for awhile

Kinda strange when we are talking about Bowtechs factory, that they dont have all there bows in! thats what i have been told.

I would drive there, but not until i know they have what im looking for!:D.....later fishon

I know that if and when I do buy my new Bowtech, (still considering a Merlin, but only if I can shoot one first), it will be from Ken at Kutch Archery. Ken is a great guy and spent time with me working on the bows and setting them up. Plus he had pretty good prices, as far as I can tell. I have been to other shops in area, and if you do not have your checkbook out, they don't want to talk to you. Very frustrating.

It may seem a little strang but the Factory Pro Shop has to order their bows jusy as any other dealer would. For the most part, I'm fairly certain that all the other dealers get their new bows before the Factory Shop.

If you haven't been there yet, it's a nice shop with a very friendly/knowledgeable staff and they have a pretty good selection of accessories too....

Just one thing that I found to be odd, the only bow line they carry is BowTech but no others?...LOL...;):D

BT shooter,
That is one thing that I am struggling with.
Sportsmans Warehouse is not really a "pro shop", but they do have a one lane 15-20 yard shooting lane and some bow tools (bow press...etc). The person that I worked with shooting the Liberty is a bowhunter. I think the BowTech shop may be better suited to help you set-up your bow though, and maybe answer your questions better??. I hate to drive two + hours when I can drive 20 minutes, but as I said in my earlier post it is still an option.
