I want to buy a good tracking flashlight?

Any reccomendations? I don't want something super heavy or microscopic either. Just a good flashlight that will last. I here talk of colored bulbs or lenses, does it help or a gimic? And lastly if you reccomend one, where can I buy it!

Thanks!

Cloud 9,

The best flashlight lights and lighting products I have found are by a company called Essential gear. They have everything from micro lights to head lamps to hand held flashlights, and even lights sticks. They are an awesome company to deal with, great customer service, and you can order directly from them. The micro lights are the brightest I have ever seen. They offer many models with several different colored lenses. I use a 10 Led hand torch with a green lens. It will not effect your night vision, it's great and very compact. Give the web site a look, you won't be disapointed (www.essentialgear.com).

Hope this helps, good luck.

Cloud 9 - it's probably bigger than what you'd like, but
the best light we've ever used is from a Coleman lantern.
For us, it has definitely been an improvement over regular
flashlights. Blood trails are as easy to follow at night as
they are during daylight. The light from the lantern seems
to give a 'glowing' effect to any blood it hits.

cloud9, take a look at wwwsurefire.com and look at their list of lights. I have a couple of these and they work great. They fit in your pocket and have the power of 6D maglights, and thats their small ones. They have filters too and they work fairly well. The blue lens is the one for blood.
Good luck.

I have had great success with the SureFire. Any of the small models will serve you well as a tracking flashlight. The blue filter is good for following a blood trail. I use the red filter for traveling to my tree in the early morning, predawn, hours.

I'll say to go with the coleman lantern--WAYYYYY better than flashlights!

I my investigations to past few nights, I have found that Surefire and Streamlight seem to be tops. The light that interested me the most was the Streamlight dual purpose. It had both xenon bulb (for ultra ultra bright) and multiple LED bulbs for bright output but low energy use. I found a website that was alot cheaper than Cabela's. Check out www.streamlight-flashlight.com and look at models TT-2d for my truck and tracking, and TT-2L for my bellypack and coming and going to stands. Anyone have one of these? They look like the real deal!

Thanks!

Woooops!......Here is the right web address www.streamlight-flashlights.com/

Prices are good. The TT-2D is $10 cheaper than Cabela's and the TT-2L is also $10 cheaper also!

Good Luck!

Surefire's are hard to beat for brightness or quality. The one down side they have is battery life. Even with the nice Lithium batteries ($10/pair), they still go relatively fast. Of course this is the trade off for such a compact powerful light. Outstanding light.
