Stabilizer Question
I am new to bow hunting so this might sound like a dumb question. How does one know which stabilizer to buy? Some are short, some longer. How do you know which one you need?

RE: Stabilizer Question
No one can tell you which stabilizer will work on YOUR bow. Some will offer their suggestions, and one may work; but, the chances are slim. Only if they have the exact same set-up as you, could they possibly begin to know which stabilizer would be best.
Yes, any stabilizer could work; but, which one is the BEST is a trial and error method. Many also don't really understand what is to be expected of a stabilizer. There are many aspects to how the 'right' stabilizer will work. Balance, torque control, vibration dampening, and noise control are all affected by the addition of any stabilizer. How well all this is accomplished is the question of the day. This is another thing I plan to cover indepth in my seminar at the upcoming ATA Trade Show. If you can find a 'good' Pro Shop that will assist you and let you try different brands, you're fortunate. |
RE: Stabilizer Question
I agree with Len. I really could not have said it better myself, By the way Len I will also be at the ATA show maybe I can finally meet the man behind the screen name. A buddy of mine was down to your shop last year.......MATT. PM me if you want and maybe we can meet at the show.[8D]

RE: Stabilizer Question
I think most people just put one on because they think they need to. Or, because everyone else has one. I don't hunt with one! My bow really doesn't need one. My next bow might though. As Len said, stabilizers have a purpose........what is yours? Normally most people want to 1st - simply balance their bow and 2nd - reduce shock and vibration.
If you go to your local proshop and shoot with several differant stabilizers(start out with diffeant extremes - 12" heavy to a 4" light) You'll definetly feel what they can do. Then hone it down from there! Good Luck! |
