Is there a clear peep sight on the market?
I was just setting here thinking about peeps and low light conditions and was wondering why I have not seen a peep sight the is made totally out of clear material. It seems to me you could but a ring of fiber optic into the peep to use to center up the pins. Is there one already out there?

RE: Is there a clear peep sight on the market?
There was one called something like the Redhawk, last year or so. The frame was black, but the peep area was large, and consisted of a plasic plate with an aperature suround engraved on it, and then a hole through that. Low light performance was part of the idea.
I'm not convinced that light flooding, in but not through a hole is a good idea. I would prefer the largest possible hole for low light, or the whole nopeep thing. The idea classicaly behind a peep is that the eye autocenters, by seeking the center as the point through which the greatest amount of light streams. This is apparently a natural behaviour. On that basis a peep that lets light in everywhere is a step backwords. On the other hand there are those who sight with a peep through concious centering, like aligning a post in a leaf site, and it should work fine for that. |

Problem with Fiber is ...being closer to your eye it would haze, distort or completely blot out the fiber sight pin I would think.
I've been looking around since Rack mentioned the difference in defractio. of light from indoor to out in another thread. I read a very in depth article on how a crosshair-type peep negates defraction and is excellent in low light. I had one on a bow I gave to my brother but never really used it in low light so...it was lost on me. I did track it down again though and will be putting it on and giving it a go. Not exactly what your looking for but might be worth checking out anyway ![]() |
