How does temperature affect compound Bows?
I've heard different comments made that storing bows in hot/warm temperatures is bad for the bow.I've also heard the same about cold temperatures. How does this affect the bow in cold temperatures? How does this affect the bow in Hot/warm temperatures?

hot weather is dab on your cables & stings. they will tend to stretch a lot in very hot weather. I would not leave my bow in a car too long in really hot weather either. As far as cold goes I have not had any real problems with cold weather, just make sure things don't freeze up if you are out in the snow. Unless you are out in super cold weather I really wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have shot in some pretty low temps, 0-10below and the only thing I really notice is more noise.

RE: How does temperature affect compound Bows?
I once traveled 100 miles on a 90degree day in August.....with my black bow case in the back of my pickup truck in the sun.......not exactly my finest moment!<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>
Both limbs of my Mathews "Ultra Max" had delaminated completely on the inside face. Not sure how hot it got in that case , but believe me you don't want to try it yourself! |
RE: How does temperature affect compound Bows?
i took both my bows to work today so i could shoot and was hoping ABM would show up. well i shot my bowtech and then send a couple down range with my martin fury and the third shot my cable guide exploded pices went everywhere, both bows were in my truck for 4 or 5 hours at -15, the bow is only 4 years old so im thinking it was due to the cold. i did let them warm up for a while befor i shot them but believe me i wont do that again.
Ron P.s. anyone got an extra cable guide? |
