2004 Mighty Mite questions
Has anyone shot this bow yet? I would like to hear your impressions on it. How does it shoot for having such a short axle to axle? How is the balance on this bow? I have heard peoples complaints about the bowtechs in the past with balance issues. I would be switching from an 03 Magnatec if I do indeed purchase this bow. Any and all revelent info would be appericiated. Thanks.

RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
Yeah somebody speak up!
Nobody shot this one yet? Buckeye, Actually there were/are only 2 BowTech models that I am aware of that had any "balance issues".......the 2002 Patriot DEFINITELY. Was very top heavy to the point where most guys were shooting them with reverse stabilizer mounts. The 2003 VFT was a LITTLE tippy bare bow, but nothing to get excited about. And that's it. The Mighty Mite I had (2001) had a very good neutral balance, and was a pretty accurate bow for how short it is. The 2004 installment should be terrific with its redesigned longer riser and higher brace height........should help it point a little more like a longer ATA bow. The 2004's I have handles have had beautiful balnce, and I wuold expect the Mighty Mite is no exception....... |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
I shot one the other night. Now I wake up every morning thinking about it. The balance is perfect, IMO. It feels like part of my arm. They weigh 3.5 lb bare. The new I cam has been smoothed out. Less hump before dropping into the valley. The draw force curve feels flatter then previous years. With the longer riser in 04 it feels like a longer ATA bow than it is. The Mighty Mite holds very well, and shoots great. It is noticeably faster than the Justice or Liberty. Recoil and vibration are right on par with them, also. I haven't been this excited about a new bow in a long time and, I will have one.;)

RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
My 02 is just slightly top heavy and with the old grip...I may change it for an 04 this year, but it would have to really be nice. I wouldn't take my money back for the one I shoot now. Like PDQ said...it's like an extension of your arm.
Coming from the Magnatech...It'll seem smaller. The split limbs and pockets on the Hoyts made them seem longer than they were with width it seemed to me. The MM will seem "thinner" and lighter all the way around, but more solid, quicker and "tighter" on all counts as well. Definitely worth checking out. |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
I think there will be a definitive difference in feel between your Magnatec and the MM VFT. For starters, the grip styles are very different. The rubber sideplates and riser have an entirely different feel than the one piece, narrow, wood grip of the new Bowtechs. Both promote less torque but from slightly different designs.
Second, the MM VFT is going to have a different overall feel and balance. The Hoyt TEC risers do provide a very stable shooting platform by moving the bow's mass weight over more of an area in the horizontal plane...almost in the same form as a rear mounted stabilizer. On the other hand, the longer riser/parallel limb design of the new Bowtech's provides more stability in the vertical plane since the mass weight is distributed more away from the grip area. And, ofcourse, the MM VFT is siginficantly shorter so more of the bow is in front of you as opposed to being "above" or "below" the imaginary line created by the arrow and your bow arm. Hope this helps. |

here is the one from bowtechs web site. Thanks for all the replys everyone. All are appericiated and more are welcome. I want to shoot a little shorter bow next season in comparison to the magnatec. I have shot the vipertec quite a few times I like it but I am not sold on it yet. I really look forward to shooting the MM. Also just so I know what to expect when I finally do get to shoot one of these. Set at 70# 29 inch draw shotting 395 grain gold tips what kind of speed would i be looking at? I am not a speed freak or anything I am just curious. Thanks |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
Whats the price tag on the 04 Mighty Mite? I almost bought the 03 model but decided to hold on to my bow for one more season, I'm definatly getting a new one this year and I think the Mighty Mite is what I'm gonna get. Just wondering what they were running though.

RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
I believe the MSRP on the MM VFT to be around $619.99. Ofcourse that is going to vary from dealer to dealer.
As for the speed out of the MM VFT....throw about 15 fps on top of whatever speed you were getting out of the Vipertec and that should put you in the ball park. :) Seriously though, assuming a bare string other than a string loop, I would guess around 295 fps. With a peep sight and/or the factory installed string silencers I would not think something in the 280 fps range to be out of the question. |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
I just got a 60 lb. Mighty Mite at 28" draw it's shooting 294 fps. through my chronograph witha 301 grain A/C/C. The Birth Certificate says it shot 295 fps.
That's with the 2 factory installed eliminator buttons and hush kit on the string. |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
That's pretty good speed for a 28 inch draw!!! The wife can't decide between the Patriot and the MightmightVFT:)

RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
Hey Pat,
You wouldn't happen to have a ...ohh I don't know, 450 grain arrow laying around you could send through that setup do ya?:D |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
ORIGINAL: Trushot_archer Hey Pat, You wouldn't happen to have a ...ohh I don't know, 450 grain arrow laying around you could send through that setup do ya?:D Kelly, I'm sure I can find one (or at least close) if I wade through my pile of arrows I've accumulated in 20+ years...;):D I'll post it tomorrow if I get time. Regards, Pat |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
Kelly,
I found an arrow that was close to your requested 450 grains. This one weighs in at 443.1 grains. I bottomed out the draw weigth at 62 lbs. and I shot 4 arrows through the chrony and they were 248, 248, 249, 248 fps. Hope this information helps you out. Regards, Pat |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
Thats pretty darn good. My DC40 is only about 8 FPS faster than that @ a little over 28"
|
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
Pat, what do you have on the string? I honestly was expecting a bit more, but you are almost 140 grains over IBO...
|
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
Range, that's with a 7 3/4 inch brace! There is only 20 1/4 inches of "push" on that arrow;)
|
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
You guys are forcing me into an MM VFT tizzy again!! Pat, stop postin' such impressive numbers. My eagerness to get my hands on one is skyrocketing!!
:) |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
RB,
Keep in mind that the bow is set at 62 lbs. and the arrow weighs approx. 135 grains over IBO. It has 2 string silencers on the string, 2 silencers on the cable (should affect speed), 2 eliminator buttons and a brass nock set. I did the math on paper (calculator :D) and the bow shoots a little hotter than I would have figured it would have without shooting it. |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
Go for it PA!! I could use one of your top notch reviews on this bow!! I am deciding between these two bows and your review was very helpful on the vipertec. Now if we could just get you to get ahold of one of these babys!!

RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
buckeyebuckhntr,
I may be heading to Andover on Fri. to show a dealer the 2004 line. How far are you from there? Maybe you can try out the Mighty Mite VFT and give it your own review...;):D |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
Bowtech_ shooter
I would really like to shoot one of these MM's. I went all the way down (1 hour 45 minutes each way) to fur feather and fins last week to shoot this bow but they didn't have it. The guy on the phone said they did[:@] They only had last years models of the patriot SC. I was bummed. So I went and shot the vipertec at another shop. I must admit it was a nice bow defentaly a better feel than my 03 magnatec. But as I said earlier I am not sold on it just yet. Not without having shot the MM. I looked andover up on mapquest. 53 miles, eta 1 hour 18 minutes. Not to bad. What time will you be up there?;) |
RE: 2004 Mighty Mite questions
Much obliged Pat!
Brian has the Pro 40 and the Liberty in now...he has the MM on order but hasn't arrived yet. He assured me he'd call as soon as it arrived. Those numbers rock! I'll get the 70 limbs as well. One more ??? How's the draw cycle compared to the older models? I don't know enough to figure how the longer riser will effect it. |

If you'll e-mail me your phone number, maybe I can call you when I get that figured out. Or if you'd rather, I can just drop you an e-mail before hand. [email protected] BTW, You're gonna crap... I just got back from showing the 2004 line to Fin, Feather and Fur about 15 mins ago.;):D |

As you're aware the Mighty Mite I have is a 60 lb model. I think (in my opinion) the draw cycle is somewhat smoother than last year partly due to the ball bearings in the cam and with the longer riser the bow seems to hold rock solid. Regards, Pat |
