Hoyt Question?

The last few bows I bought I got them with 70 Lb limbs and they always bottom out at around 67Lbs. This year I think I am going back to a Hoyt but I was wondering if you can get 75 Lb limbs or are they only 70 or 80 Lbs? The Vipertec looks really sweet but maybe a little slow.

RE: Hoyt Question?

Actually, the Vipertec I just bought peaks at around 76 lbs and it is only a 70 lb peak draw weight bow. Most of the Hoyts I have owned end up peaking a few lbs over their listed peak draw weight.

RE: Hoyt Question?

I didn' t chrono the ViperTec I shot, but I also noticed it was not quite so quick as say a Razor or Ultra. It' s the limb angles..Hoyt has used a fairly traditional/aggressive limb angle for the past couple of years, the ViperTec and X-Tec don' t have that.

As far as poundage, all of my recent models have peaked in the 71 to 74 pound range.

RE: Hoyt Question?

The two Vipertecs at the pro shop bottom out at 68 and 69 lbs. I had them contact Hoyt to try and send me one that bottoms out around 72 or 73 but they said they will not do that and that I would have to buy a 80lb bow. Thats a little disappointing considering the bow cost $629 you think they could try and find me what I want. Oh well, maybe I' ll look at some other companies before I buy this year!

RE: Hoyt Question?

My Cybertec cranked to 73# off the shelf. I think it' s the luck of the draw though. You may have to go through two dozen bows to find one that' ll crank down like that.
