Carbon or Aluminum?
 

Which is better for what? I shoot a Mathews FX at 60 lbs, 27" , gold tip hunters. I used to shoot Easton XX75' s, but switched for no reason. I am having problems with vane clearence. I don' t shoot leages, only around the house and hunting. And I don' t group. Would I be better off with aluminums, is so, which ones? I was thinking about going back to the XX75' s.

In my humble opinion, you just can' t beat XX78 aluminums. Alot straighter than carbons except for ACE' s and ACC' s, but who wants to pay 100 bucks for a 12 arrows? (or that' s about what they were when I last priced them). XX78 aluminums are alot tougher than XX75' s. I' ve bounced XX78s off trees and they were still straight. 75' s always bent really easily for me.

I' ll take a heavy, straight, alunimum shaft any day. I like them a little on the heavy side (within the spine limits for the set up I' m using) because they really help absorb the shot, and that makes for a quiet(er) shot.

You' re going to get a different reply from everyone that posts. It' s up to you to decide what you want to do.

Even the GT hunters are capable of decent accuracy. By decent, I mean 1-2" groups at 20 yards all the time.

Your issues aren' t carbon vs. aluminum. They are bow tune and arrow/vane clearance. Solve these two problems and save your money.

I agree, my bow needs tuned. But as for money, I am going to buy new arrows anyway. One of the reasons I was thinking about switching is because of the vane clearence.

I just got 1/2 of my order from Lancaster Archery, 2314' s in X7 Eclipse. It seems that they are backordered on this shaft but I put togther what I had with 4 inch vanes and 100 grain glue in nibbs, 29 inches overall. Man they are dead on accurate and the weight is 452 grains, about what a heavy carbon weighs. I' m going to use them for indoor this winter and for 3D' s later on. My Pro 40 Dually in 60 pound and 29.5 inch draw puts them out there at 268 fps!!!

If vain clearance is your issue, rotate the nocks!!

AKDoug. How far would you want me to rotate the knocks?? They seem to hit no matter where I rotate them to.

I am shooting right helical (sp). I know I should be able to line them up so they dont' hit, but have been unable to do so.
