Bow scale question

I have one of those hand held bow scales that you hook to your string and draw with it. Well, I have set my draw weight at 64lb at the local bow shop, but when I use my scale it only says 54. Are these things notoriously inaccurate, or does mine just have a problem. What would you guys reccomend.

Thanks
Scott

I' ve tried a couple of different ones and yes, they were very inaccurate.

Those hand-held bow scales aren' t the greatest, but I' ve never seen one that was 10#' s off.....

For around $55, you can have one of the 100# hanging scales that you see in many archery shops. It' ll last you a lifetime......

look under www.cabelas.com for " Bow Scale"

RE: Bow scale question

Yep they are usually 10 lbs off or so. Jeff shot his Darton at 80 plus lbs cause the stupid bow scale said 72. Wondered why that bow was so loud...[8D]
