Liberty VFT Brace: 7 &1/2” Peak Weights: 50,60,70,80 Draw Lengths:: 25-30 AtoA:33 & ¼” Mass weight: 3lbs 14oz IBO speeds: 300-308 FPS
WAIT! There' s hope yet!

One of the options I was considering was a smooth drawing 80# bow. Perhaps the Liberty will fit the bill after all...

I wonder how it draws compared to the CPS or Omega cam? Bowtech Shooter?

Rangeball,
Don' t dispair!
Have you looked the Pro40 Dually? I think the reason that you are not seeing an Option II Black Knight is that the Pro40 Dually basically fills that spot. I think they would be so close in specs that they just decided in favor of offering the Pro40 Dually.
So basically they have a low brace BKII " Burner" and the higher brace version just in a different name Pro40 Dually, with even more shooter friendly specs.
Those numbers are impressive! Mid 330' s at 7" brace height, almost the same ATA as the BKII?
With the refined duals w/ bearings and better draw cycles ,that is going to be a heck of a bow!

Did that brighten the day any?

Hey Folks,

I’m sorry… I’m a bit busy the next few days, so my answers may be infrequent except in the evenings.

The BKII tall brace has been phased out. The Pro40 DC takes up that mantle. Similar measurements, slightly higher brace, and similar speeds to the 2003 BKP tall brace.

Target colors are still being ironed out, and I advise everyone to contact their local BowTech dealer or wait for the catalog and see what the final word is. I don’t have any info on colors whatsoever.

Freedom cam is supposed to be a really smooth easy drawing cam. BowTechShooter told me that the 70 pound Liberty he was shooting at the factory was easier to draw and smoother shooting than his 58 pound 2003 Patriot SC. I think that says it all. 80 pounder for me too Range.

I dunno Matt, to be honest, as a hunter, I don' t usually even give a 40" ata bow a first glance, but on second glance this " 40" is only 37.5" , so it' s closer. I guess Pro 37.5 just doesn' t roll off the tounge as well...

As for it' s speeds, 328-336 versus the 342-350 of the ' 03 BK tall may not do what I want it to do, which is fling a 500 grain arrow 270+ fps. I had calculated the BK to do 271-277 fps, the ' 04 " 40" with the same calculations would do 259-266. Close, but no cigar, and not much more than my Hornet does currently.

In all likelihood I' ll never hunt an elephant or cape buffalo, so I don' t really know why I think I need all this powah, I guess it' s cause you long arm guys have it so I want it too I' d probably be better off getting a smooooooth drawing, very very easy to aim and shoot accurately bow with at least the the same power I now have (70' #s of ke), and switch from large cut mechanicals for deer to cut on impact heads if I feel additional penetration is needed, like should I ever get the opportunity to hunt hogs. Until then, it' s whitetails and turkeys only, and my hornet zips them through fast enough.

Hey Rangeball, My ' 03 Pat dually is doing 254 fps at 66 pounds and 29 inches with a 540 grain 2315!!! I' ll tell you that is enough for me, over 77 ft lbs. of K.E. Also with a 7 3/4 inch brace. I turned it up to max at 71 pounds and I got 269 fps with a 523 grain arrow for 83.7 ft.lbs.
The addition of the bearings will make these bows even more effecient and will feel even smoother[] Man I can' t wait to see the new camo and that new cam!!!

No Tall BK2, that' s disappointing, that is what I was thinking about ordering. I think the 04 Pro 40 DC should be faster than what they are listing, check out the 03 specs.

03 vs 04
BH 7 3/8 vs 7
A to A 38 vs 37 1/8
IBO 329-337fps vs 328-336fps

Not being critical, well maybe a little, but the Tall BK2 was 6 3/4" bh, 36" a to a, and 342-350fps.

Walks, that' s real close to what my hornet does with a similar set up. It' s not a bowtech, but it does have a bowtech cam

Does bowtech deliver dead on draw lengths, or is a 29" draw really 29.5-.75?

Rangeball-

Some say dead on, others say at least 1/2" long. I' m ordering 28" & 29" modules and hopefully I' ll be able to get to 28.5" without having to wait months to get 28.5" mods.

I noticed the slight speed drops too on the duals. I suspect it’s just that many people B&M’ed about the draw cycle, so Kevin softened it up some, and then used the bearings and a little less brace to get the speed back pretty close to what it was for 03. also this “new string material” may account for some that, depending on the material.

I personally am glad to see it happen. The 2003 cams were fast and accurate, but too extreme for my tastes @ my normal hunting poundages, and I’m one who is much less inclined to whine about draw cycles than most. Once I get over 285-290 FPS, I start throttling bows back anyways.

The other thing I’m looking forward to seeing about the new duals is “where” is the efficiency? The BK2 cams were extremely efficient w/ light arrows (and no slouch with heavy arrows either). I lost very little KE for a significant drop in arrow weight with my BKII op2 because it picked up speed at a higher than normal rate. The 2003 cams seemed to like heavy arrows better. I’m anxious to see where these new cams fall. I’m thinking these will be similar to the BKII cams. Word is also that they are much less finicky about synch than the 2003’s (so much that they dropped the tuner option for 2004)

As far as draw lengths: My DC PAT from last year was supplied w/ the incorrect cable lengths and ran 28 & 7/8” for a 28” module. Once I got the right cables on it ran 28.25”. The last several Bowtechs I’ve had have probably averaged about 3/8”. I had a 2000 ES that was an inch over spec. But every other one I’ve owned has been within 1/2" (except the DC PAT flub). It actually works out well for me on the singles cause it’s usually about ½” long @ 80% letoff and when I shorten the stop to my preferred 60-65% letoff it’s right around 29” AMO which is perfect for me w/ a loop.

I have my mind made up mostly…I know I’m going to get a Liberty, which should be perfect on the ground or in the trees (if my back will allow it next year) and I’ve worked (begged, actually ) a second bow into the budget…I’m really interested in the Justice VFT and new Mighty Mite VFT as much as I am the improved DC PAT. That second bow will be a tough choice..there’s just too many bows I want from this lineup. Hell I’ve wanted an ExVFT for awhile, and I STILL want one of those..I' m nearly ready to draw straws for # 2

Range, My Pro 40 Dually is dead on 29 inches and my Pat Dually is about 3/8 of an Inch long. Don' t forget that the modules are available in 1/2 inch increments!!! You can get exactly what you want Yes those Diamonds are good little bows, Kevin had a little something to do with those cams too
