New String lowered my poundage 5 #?
My string was cut last week. I had to replace it with a new Zebra twist setup. My limb bolts are tightened to its fullest position (70Ib,s)...The bow pulls right now at 65 Ib,s. What happened? The guy at the Pro shop told me it was because the string is new, shoot it some more and it should tighten up? Huh? If the string stretches how wll that increase my poundage? The bow is only 2 years old and prabaly doesnt have more than 500 arrows shot through it so I would hate to think that my limbs have already lost some ummmph
What gives here guys? |
RE: New String lowered my poundage 5 #?
My guess would be the string too, possible either made too short (a longer string gives more draw weight) or is twisted up too much making it shorter too. You didn' t say if the cables were replaced so am assuming they weren' t. If the cables were then they may be too long which would lower the weight. You could probrably twist up the cables to get that weight back. I' ve seen lots of bows come in for strings/cables that weren' t near specs. Just had one in last week that the string was 1 5/8" more then specs.

Ther string is probably just a little shorter. I had the same thing happen when I put a Muzzy string on my hoyt ultratec, it cut my poundage down 10lbs.

Have him twist up the cable (make it shorter)
or..Untwist the string (make it longer) or a little of both:) That will get you back to 70lbs |

Rico, these guys have you going on the right path.
Those Zebra strings have to start short so that when they are done creeping they are the right length!!!!!!!:D:D:D[:o][:o][:o] That is one other reason I began making my own strings. |
