Backstop question
 

Hey all... I'm planning on making a backstop this weekend and want to know your thoughts on it.

Shooting a 45# recurve, closest shots would be in the 10 yard range.

I'm going to construct a 3' x 3' x 5' "box" out of PVC pipe and put 2 "rungs" on the top which I will then drape carpet over evenly so as to have the same length on both sides. In essence, there will be 4 layers of free-swinging carpet with 2-6 inches separating the layers.

Do you think this would stop my arrow?

This would be my "safety net" in case I don't hit the intended target (which is 2.5' x 2.5') that will sit in front of this backstop. The whole thing will cost me under 20 bucks to make, but I don't want to buy the materials if it won't work out. I live in a residential area, so I need it to work... don't want to be flinging arrows in the neighbor's yard (chain link fence doesn't stop much).

The reason I want to make it this way is because it will be light and portable, easy to take down and store in the garage after every session.

Please disregard this thread... turns out, I can drill the bullseye over and over from 20 yards, and the group didn't open up too badly at 30.

If I really feel nervous about it, I'll just drape a piece of carpet over the chain link. Done deal.
