Which arrow to hunt with ?

First off I will give my set-up that I am shooting. Mathews LX, set a 68 pounds, 29 inch draw with a loop, release, and a mathews micro shoot through rest. I have a dozen carbon express 3d select 300 shafts, 30 inches long, 3, 4 inch duravanes with a slight helical, and 100 grain muzzy 3 blades. Total weight is 390 grains. I also have a dozen beman ics hunter 340 shafts, 30 inches long, 3, 4 inch feathers with a slight helical, 100 grain muzzy 3 blades, and total weight is 411 grains. I want a quiet bow, which the lx is very quiet, but want to keep my speed up as well. This bow really throws ans arrow. With the information I have given, which one would you use and why? I want an arrow that is forgiving under hunting situations when using good form might not be possible. I know most will say it is my preference, but am looking for some advice to steer me in the right direction. I should add that I vary rarely hunt in the rain. Also is the 390 grain shaft heavy enough to be safe for my lx? Good luck this season. Bhunter32.

RE: Which arrow to hunt with ?

I' d say go with the heavier of the two, just based on principle. Really though, 21 grains simply is not going to make any difference whatsoever. Neither arrow will be more ' forgiving' than the other. KE and momentum will be practically identical.

If one was 390 grains and the other was 490 grains, then we' d have something to discuss.

There is no choice to be made between those two arrows on any criteria except which arrow shoots your broadheads with more consistent accuracy.

BHunter: I am by far no expert but I would go with the Beman ICS hunter 340' s. They are a little heavier but I think you should get better flight and tighter grouping with the info you gave. That is a fast Bow and with poundage that high I think it is the better choice...Hope someone else with that type of setup can help you even more. Good Luck on your HUNTS...
