how far

im new to archery and i recently purchased a bear outbreak and i was getting to sight in my 3 pin sight what distances do you guys recommend

If you're fairly new then I would start with the conventional 20-30-40 settings, but start by shooting 10 yards to make sure you're on target. Once you've got that then move back to 20 and set the top pin for that. Don't worrry about setting the other pins til you become proficient at 20.

What BH said is also what I would suggest. 20-30-40.

Yep what they said but also practice at 10-15, 25, and 35 yards. Depending on where you hunt alot of hunting shots aren't much past 20-25 yards.

A buddy and myself do this often as many times deer will be at 16 yards or 25 yards. Good practice and lets you know how your bow hits. Will pay off as things in the woods seem to happen at warp speed.

I agree. You are about to have so much fun!

Seeing as you are new to the archery world, i would recommend 20-30-35. I would not sight in for too much further than 35yards unless you can consistently hot something about the size of a pie plate. Shoot/sight in for as far as you are comfortable with, but most importantly HAVE FUN!

I guess I would be considered the exception to the above (at least partially). I would set the pins at 20 - 30 ad 40. Once you have them sighted in and are comfortable shooting your new bow at 10 or 20 yds, go out to the 30 or even the 40 yd mark and practice. If you can consistantly hit your mark at the longer ranges, the 20 yd and under shot nomally taken at game (eastern) will seem like a gimme.
Remember two things if nothing else. Do not tense up shooting your bow. When you get tired - STOP. Nothing ruins accuracy more than a tense bow arm/hand. Secondly, You will never be able to hold your bow dead still. There will always be some movement. Practice will decrease this movement. Just concentrate on your release and you will do fine.
