Arrow spined a little too much?
 

Should shooting an arrow that' s a little stiffer(and heavier) than suggested make a whole lot of difference in the performance of the bow? Shots will be limited to 20 yds or less regardless.

Depends. As far as performance, heavier arrows may absorb more energy from the bow making it quieter and smoother. If you are shooting a release and a loop through a shoot through rest or drop away, spine is much less critical than if you are shooting fingers.

As long as the bow tunes and you are accurate at your personal differences, you should be good to go.

If you are just over the recomendation by a hair, I wouldn' t worry about it too much. If you are way overspined, you need to see how your bow is shooting to make that determination.

An overspined arrow can cause your shots to string out one way or the other as your range increases.

A quick way to reduce spine is to increase your tip weight. If you are shooting 100gr tips now, try out a 125. This should reduce the spine just a bit.

Thanks for the responses, the situation is this. I bought my Dad a new bow, he dropped the draw weight tad from before, and with the cut out riser(you see how old his other bow was) we can lop an 1 1/2" off the arrow. So when I put in the newer parameters to eastons selection, it' s a bit on hte stiff side. The bow paper tuned well, it' ll probably be this weekend or so before he does any real shooting. He shoots a release and a 125 gr head already.
