Arrow question - reducing weight help!

my FOC is 10.6% using 29" Easton 2314 aluminums with 125 Grain Broadheads I am curious as to what might happen if I switch to 100 Grain Broadheads any thoughts.

I am also thinking of switching to mechanicals Draw length is 29" and 58# draw
is that enough KE to justify the switch to mechanicals Where can I find the formula to calculate my KE?

Any help would be much appreaciated
Thanks

Your FOC would probably drop down to around 9+%. Figure your KE here. http://home.att.net/~sajackson/archery2.html

What would happen going from a 125 gn head to a 100 gn is your FOC would drop, like nub says, to somewhere around 9%. Your arrows would spine a bit stiffer. Your speed would increase about 3-5 fps. Your KE would stay exactly the same. Your sight pins would pretty much stay exactly the same.

The only practical reason for making the switch is if your arrows are acting slightly underspined with 125 gn heads.

Thanks I am thinking that 44 lbs isn' t enough KE to switch to mechanicals. But it was worth a shot to consider

I' m not so sure about that 44 lbs.I have seen a few women useing mech.heads in some of my hunting tapes. They were shooting ULTRA 2' s, and I would bet they are pulling in the low 50' s, and even useing light carbons. They don' t get pass throughs, but decent penatration anyway.

Cableguy, these guys hit the nail on the head. Yeah, 44 ftlbs of KE is light for a mechanical broadhead. With your configuration, you shouldn' t have any problem getting fixed blade heads to fly perfect.
