Tuning a new Bow
I just got a new compound bow. When I got it the gentleman tuned it for me. I shoot probably 20-30 shots through it a day for about 2 months. Well over 1000 shots. Will the bow have to get tuned again. Does the string natually stretch. I have noticed my groupings are not as good as they used to so I suspect it may need to be tuned again. Is this normal or something else is amuck. He paper tuned it perfectly when I got it. Now I am getting shots through the paper that are diagnol.
Thanks, Vector |
RE: Tuning a new Bow
String stretch can be a factor on a brand new bow, depending on the material the string is made of. There also can be other factors at play such as something vibrating out of place (arrow rest) or a nocking point that has slipped, etc...ect...
If you are no longer getting good tears through paper and/or your arrow flight seems a bit screwey (fishtailing, porpoising, or corkscrewing) then it is time to have things checked out again. My guess is that after this time, it will stay tuned for quite awhile (provided you don' t mess with anything). |
