String Leeches, you like em'?
Anyone use String Leeches (by Limb Saver) ? How do you like them, and how much quieter are they than regular silencers?
Thanks |
RE: String Leeches, you like em'?
To answer you second question first.....I felt that they reduce noise levels about as much as having a set of rubber "cat whiskers" on each end of the bowstring.
...and, No, I do not like them. If used "right out of the box" they wear out too quickly for my tastes. |
RE: String Leeches, you like em'?
I like them very much. They reduce alot of the string noise on my bows. My Q2 is pretty hard on them and they only last about 300 shots on it. I have shot my Cybertec around 2000 shots since I got it and they show no wear.

I like them for hunting, they work great & do work better than spider legs or puffs on my bow. only draw back they don't last past 250-300 shots

they wont last 500 shots. My FX was very bad on them. I probably wasnt even getting 100 shots out of a pair.

They work good....but for hunting I like Beaver Balls....they reduce noise very well...and they shed water if your ever caught or hunt in the rain....plus they look cool!

RE: String Leeches, you like em'?
SVL Tech said at another forum that they were doing something with there molds that would improve the leech considerably. If these last alot longer than the originals did I may try them again,if not I'll stick with my Spyder Speed silencers

RE: String Leeches, you like em'?
At least on my set-ups I would have to put so much rubber Cathwiskers onthe string to equual the leeches effectiveness I would loose 8 FPS or so. Instead I only lose 2-3 w/ the Leeches.
Durability is not great and If you have a bow w/ alot of string vibe in the first place (Mathews Q series bows are notorious for this) then theyw on't last more than a couple of hundred shots. They work so well w/ so little speed loss that I don't mind buying new ones every couple of months. JEffB :) |
RE: String Leeches, you like em'?
ive not tryed the leaches. but im planing on using them next hunting season.
has anyone had any other problmes with them except for the quick wear? my sting doesent have much twist and was wondering if they would end up slideing up or down the string. Ron |
RE: String Leeches, you like em'?
I use them and I like them but my Q2 eats them up pretty fast. I just going to put them on for hunting. The targets dont care about the noise<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
