There are two sides to this from what I've read. Some say that they are supposed to be about a 1/4 inch from where the cable slide stops so that it actually hits the dampeners thus reducing cable vibration. Others say they are to be against the bow.

Maybe someone has the right answer. I have a set and put mine so that my cable slide slightly hits it. Works good this way for me.

I also set mine up so that the cable slid hits the dampners. Seems to work pretty well this way.

I checked the package that I have and they say to place them just shy of the cable slide. I placed mine that way due to the fact that my slide accually hits them when I shoot.

I remember "Len in Maryland" addressing this exact issue last year sometime.
I got a "Cyber-Smack" from him for letting my cable slide hit the dampeners.......it's not good for the bow in some way(I forget exactly why), but you should never impede the travel of your cable slide.

Maybe he'll check back in and cyber-smack 5-Shot and a few others!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
I know I don't put mine where they will contact the slide anymore.

I just installed the SVL dampeners on my Hoyt. The instructions state right on them it's optional to use them as a cable slide stop. I'm sure curious why this would be bad if they just make contact. I can see where it would be a problem if they significantly impeded the cable slide. Maybe Len will will revisit this for us all.
