styrofoam targets
 

A freind just gave me three blocks of styrofoam to use as targets, he gets them from where he works they are 4'X3' and 2'thick
I have shot about a hundred arrows at one of them and they stop arrows really well,but I noticed that some residue builds up on my arrows after a few shots.
Has any of you used styrofoam targets before and had this residue problem? And if so whats the best way to remove the buildup from your arrows?
I am hoping to find an easy solution to the build up,due to the fact that my freind can get these blocks at anytime,so I will never have to worry about targets agian.
Maybe I can even carve 3D animals out of them with the hot knife he gave me!

Have you tried goo gone or even just plain dish washing soap? I use goo gone to remove fiberglass resin from my hands after projects and it always takes it off. I can't imagine that stuff would be harder to get off then that, plus it won't hurt the carbon fiber.

How about fine steel wool?

Lacquer thinner and scotch brite pad.

Thanks guys for the suggestions,I tried afew things and found that accetone and scotch brite work well,so I guess I will use them.
They work good a little hard to pull arrows from but still good stops for free!

Rub a little bar soap on the front 1/3 of the arrow before you shoot them into the styrofoam. It will make them worlds easier to pull and keep the buildup of gunk on the shaft to a minimum.
