What type of fletching?
#7
I use them all- so I didn't vote.
Some setups I prefer feathers, some vanes. In the past 11 months I've messed around with:
Vanetec HPs (they curl/flop over)
Blazers ( a little too loud for my tastes, but durable)
AAE Max Hunters (too easily damaged, and are LOUD)
Bi-Delta Sharks Tooth (crappy quality control which makes them tough to fletch- I threw them away)
Rayzr feathers (quieter than Blazers-which surprised me).
Of those, I prefer the Blazers and Rayzrs. For my new bow's setup I'm starting off with blazer fletched arrows, but may end up with Rayzrs, or maybe try some Fusions, or a normal profile 2-3" flex fletch vane or feather.
Overall I prefer feathers- aesthetically as well as tuning/control wise- but I prefer the brighter longer lasting color of vanes, as well as less downrange velocity decay and you don't have to worry about them getting wet. Like everything in archery, every boon has it's bane and vice-versa.

Depends on the use. For hunting i like 4in feathers. And i have found that past 30 yards that feather fletched arrows slow down a lot quicker than plastic fletched arrows. So for 3d, i like blazers and for hunting where shots could be farther than 40 yards(antlope, mulies) I would probably use blazers or something plastic.

So it sounds like for compound bow use for hunting plastic is better than feathers to maintain speed. Blazers are more durable then regular vanes. As far as accuracy and quicker flight stabilization whats better the standard vanes or blazers? Just wondering if i should make the switch or just stick with the stock vanes that came on my maximas.
