RE: How many strings can you cut on the bow string and still be safe?

Cheap insurance, get a new string. It may hold but I' d rather know for sure.

All you need is for one string to break while drawing to take away any desire to risk shooting one with broken strands. ;)

Good advice!!!!!. Keep the old one for a spare, but mark it someway so you don' t think it' s a new one and use it for emergencies only.

Just curious. If you just bought a new SuperTec, why didn' t you have the Pro Shop install the peep for you?

In my shop everything is installed, the bow is tuned with the arrows, the archer is fitted and refitted, range time, one year unlimited warranty (except for strings and cables) by my staff to fix it at the shop rather than send anything back to the manufacturer; and, if it has to go back to the manufacturer for any reason, we pay the freight. That is, unless the archer wants to save a little money by installing themselves - most don' t and take advantage of our extensive service.

I' m just curious as to how other shops manage things.

Len, I sure wish we had that type of service down here. The so called pro shop in my area doesnt even know how to use a bow square. [X(]

ST03, Replace the string bud. Dont take a chance with a weakened string.

Replace the bow string. If one strand breaks it tends to weaken and diminish the overall strength of the string.

It may last for several shots but I sure would not take the chance.

Len, you provide great service for you customers. Wish I had the same here.

i' d do what everyone else said , i had a cut strand and the darn string popped while it was hanging at the range, all because i was being cheap at the time!

RE: How many strings can you cut on the bow string and still be safe?

The string is too cheap not to replace it NOW. Just think of the damage it could do if it breaks during a draw. That is to the bow and you.[:o] On the subject of strings, I' m looking for string material to build my own strings. Does anyone know where I can get it???

RE: How many strings can you cut on the bow string and still be safe?

You can get string material from any good proshop.

As far as shooting your bow with only one or two strands broken... I say go for it.

What is the worst that can happen?

I can show whoever goes to the northeast get together the cutest little 6 stitch scar on my chin from trying that one!:D

You got the correct advise, and I am glad to see you are getting a new string.

If you are near any of the bigger shoots (IBO Triple Crown, etc.) then you could check them also. I usualy wait till then to buy from the BCY rep. He usually has a good selection and willing to give you advise. (personally I like 450 Plus)
