HOW OFTEN DO YOU CHANGE STRINGS?

I go about every three years and might be pushing it.Some hunters change their string every year but have to deal with string stretch then and make more adjustments.I' m just curious as to how often you guys change your string?

I would normally change about every two years but I change and get at least one new bow every year. That way I save the cost of strings and cables. Germain, my latest bow ook about 50 shots to settle the string stretch. It stretched about 1/16th inch. The better materials today don' t have the same problems as only a couple years ago.

I change cables & string once per year.....Cheap insurance that I' ll have no problems during hunting season......The tune-up costs me about $75.00 at my pro shop.

Make my own so change them every year. Talking to the BCY rep and he suggests every year or two at outside. I know some guys who change the string every year and the cable(s) every other year. Whatever you decide to do just make sure you keep the string waxed and if you see any nicks get it replaced. By the way, IMO just because a string is more expensive doesn' t mean it will last longer.

Like Iroquois, I make my own strings also. I change mine on a whim at any given time. Basically, when I get tired of the colors it is time for a new string!!!

I ussually change mine after every fall hunting season unless I damage it. Then I change it right away.

I keep mine well waxed and inspect it before each use. I usuallly change mine every two years.

I changed my string on my personal bow after the season was over in February. I just changed it twice 2 days ago. :D

Realistically, 5000 shots or two years is about average, whichever comes first. It also depends on how well you keep the string waxed and the amount of abuse it takes in the field. And, if you' re shooting down around 5 grains per pound, you might want to consider a quicker change.

Cable change is usually less frequent unless you have a one cam bow that eats the serving.

BobCo19-65, that' s a really silly question. You must not pay attention to your shot-meter. Always reset it when you outfit your bow with new strings and/or cables and put a little sticker on your bow showing the date and the shotmeter setting. :D

I make all my own strings and replace them whenever they show any signs of wear and I shoot a lot so I change my strings sometimes more than once a year just because... well, just because. ;o)

I' m a big fan of 450+ material and Halo serving. The stuff is bullet proof and wears like iron. No creep, no stretch, no fuzz and no string rotation. What more can you ask for?

Whenever I change bows-about 6 times a year or so my wife says. Seriously, I also make mine so change them whenever they look like they need it.
