My young son [first year bowhunting] is shooting a 75gr field point with a 37 pound draw weight, can't put the draw weight up unless we make the length of draw
longer, can't do that. There are not alot of broadheads out there in this weight, pro shop guy recomended 75gr muzzys and I'm thinking 75gr sonics. What do you
recomend? muzzys, sonics or something else?

CEO of Muzzy uses that head and has been using it since she was a young girl. I think she told me she currently pulls about 47# but it hasen't always been that high and she has always used that same 75 gr muzzy head with great success for over twenty years.

I use to use 75gr. Muzzys.

Used them for a couple years.

Killed 4 deer with them and had passthroughs on all. Of coarse I was shooting more weight (55lbs).

Very good durable head.

75 gr. Muzzy is a great head. Flys real well, and give great penetration due to it's 1" cutting diameter. Real good choice for a light arrow or a low poundage bow.

I shot 75gr Muzzys for the last 5 years. They are a great head. Every year I try something different and end up going back to them. I have killed many deer with them.

Not my first choice, but nothing wrong with that choice either.

At that kind of draw weight/length, I'd be looking at a 75 grain cut on contact style head- The Sonic, and I know Steelforce has one as well.

cant go wrong with any muzzy, you should consider switching yourself also.

muzzys [100 gr] does not fly nearly or penetrate as well as the wac ems, and yes I have tried them.

I know that you asked about 75 grain broadheads but I would consider stepping up a little in weight to an 85 grain broadhead. There is a heck of a lot better selection in 85 grains than there are 75 grains. He isn't going to notice much difference in trajectory at all by adding 10 grains of weight. I

If it were my kid though I would have him shooting a 100 grain broadhead. He will have a higher FOC and should have a little better penetration. I doubt that you are going to have to worry about the spine of the arrow because at only 37 pounds of draw weight he is likely over spined quite a bit any way. Of course he will have the best selection of broadheads available in 100 grains. I personally had my daughter shooting a 100 grains standard slick trick when she was only pulling 35 - 40 pounds. In fact, that is what she is still shooting at over 50 pounds.

Going to a 100 grain head would increase your selection and would more than likely help with penetration. A good 75 grain head would be the Steel Force Phat head. It's a good, sturdy, cut on contact head. Slick Tricks also makes an 85 grain head.
