String silencers on Bowtech Bows

One of the Bowtech string silencers (part of the hush kit) broke and fell of my string on my Pro 40 DC the first week I owned it. I noticed it shot faster without it, but the string had a twang to it. I was thinking about trying some Sims stealths silencers, has anyone tried these on their Bowtechs? Do they work as good as factory silencers? What about speed, will I pick any speed up changing to the Sims?

CWB, I like the Leeches better. I didn' t chrono before & after, so can' t comment on speed differences.

Same here. The leeches seemed to work better on the one bow that I switched them on. There was a slight speed increase as well... 2-3 fps.

I' m kinda in the same boat. I haven' t shot my hush kitted bow much yet. But I am leary on taking the string silencers off as they look very durable.
When you put the string leeches in, does it mess up your peep rotation?

On my Solo Pat I have just one leach near the cam. This bow is SUPER quite.

Don' t think you need two

That' s good to know.
What grain arrow are you shooting to be SUPER quiet with only one string leech?

70# 29" Draw, 385 grn arrow.

The top leach flew off a few weeks ago, Just left the bottom one on and I cannot tell any diff.

That throws the heavy weight arrow theory out of the picture. :)

RA,

For some reason I remember reading something about only having one leech installed changing POI on someone' s setup. Did you experience this when you lost the one leech?

PAB - I have used one leach or one wisker before. never noticed any diff. in POI - but when you shoot like me whats to notice:D;)

I have to hand it to BowTech, though I have had my " issues" with them - they are quite. Your right, even with a light setup - not much noise.

The other day I was shooting 45 yds lights out:). Even took a few pictures of some groups[:-]. Felt like I couldn' t miss the 5-spot even if you kicked me:). Gotta love those days. The bow shoots well.

question: I left the cable silincers on. Hase anyone noticed a diff in sound with them off??? I cant see them doing much. Just don' t feel like going through the hassle of taking them off to see.

On my ' 02 Pat single I use cat whiskers on my string and cables and serve them in place instead of tying them on. That bow is scary quiet!!!!

RE: String silencers on Bowtech Bows

I just picked up my new shafts - and when I get them done they should be ~300gr. I will have my ' 02 Pat SC set to 60# with a 27" draw - I plan on checking the speed thru the chrono before & after the hush kit silencers & I' ll let you know how much of a difference it makes in speed & noise.

Also - FWIW - while in KC @ Nationals this year one of my string silencer ' fingers' broke off my top silencer during the 3D shoot. I cornered a BowTech shop owner I know & respect & he told me that they have been tying a small serving to keep them from sliding - he tells me that because mine slid down & ended up colliding with the one on the buss cable it broke.

Now my top silencer is missing 1 finger...[:o] good thing it' s not the middle one!

When I got my Pat last spring the dealer installed the hush kit. The string silencers came apart in a week or two, replaced them with Sims. I switched back and forth between the Sims cable dampener and the hush kit dampener several time and could tell a difference, Sims quiter.

jersey,

They are 385 grn total weight. 28-1/4" GT XT 7595' s with 75 grn tip, 4" feathers and wraps. Can easily go to 125 grn tip with these and still spine.

My GT XT 5575' s weigh in at 370 grns and are on the light side in spine, they still fly and tune great with fps, but not that great with fixed heads.

I had the same experience as Rack...Lost the top leech and couldn' t tell a difference in sound or poi on my MM. I got curious and took the other one off and TWANG! Right back on and only one on the bottom. Shut it right up.My arrows 500+ though too.

FWIW...

I just shot my ' 02 Pat SC, 27" draw, 26" CXL250@304gr - 61lbs pull...

With the BT stock silencers (part of the hush kit) she was @ 271fps
Removed top & bottom silencers & she' s @ 274fps -

I don' t notice any difference in the sound.

RE: String silencers on Bowtech Bows

Only 3 fps difference?
That' s a lot less than I figured they' d cost ya.

Rack. I plan on leaving the ones on my cables as I can' t see them doing much harm. I doubt the top cable string silencer is costing you anything. It' s funny you mention the trouble involved with taking them off, I always figured they were one scissor snip away from hitting the floor.

Yea...I guess you can do that. With my luck my bow would loose 10 fps and get twice as load..LOL:D

Another 20 dollar " Snip" :D;)
