Rest is eating my feathers

I just put a Star Hunter rest on my bow so I can shoot finger release, but its tearing up my feathers. Other than going to a different rest or fletching with vanes is there a remedy for this. Any help would be appreciated as I just started shooting a compound after many years lay off.

Definitely work on your nock rotation. Definitely adjust the fins as far apart as you can and not let the arrow fall through. Another reason I' ve seen Star Hunters eat fletches has been because of the nock point being too low. I always set my nocks between 3/8" and 1/2" above square for shooting fingers.

Are you backing the side pressure fin with a cushion plunger? If not, give it a try.

Thanks for the tips and the links. I am going to work on the problem the rest of this week. Thanks again.

One other thing I forgot. It' s been awhile since I last set up a Star Hunter. You can take a small adjustable wrench and twist the tip of the bottom fin a little bit to make it fit the arrow a little better. You want the shaft riding on the center of the fin and with the flat angle it comes with from the factory, your arrow winds up riding off to the side. The smaller diameter arrows are affected worse than the big logs are.

Tweaking the fin angles the edge of the fin away from the bottom hen feather and gives you a little more clearance.

I agree with Arthur too. Just don' t go switching to vanes. That won' t cure the problem. You no doubt have a problem with fletching clearance. That can be tuned out. Going to vanes will just make your arrow flight much uglier for now.

Thanks GKF now thats what I call customer service. Using all these tweaking tips I now have arrows that dont leave a cloud of fluff trailing them down range. All I have to do now is improve my shooting. Thanks again guys.
