Changing Draw Weight

Ok, I got my girlfriend a bow. She was having trouble with the poundage, so I marked the limb bolts and back them out a half turn each til she could pull it back. It is a one cam bow. I was wondering if I did it right. With the front end of the bow facing me, I turned the bolt counter-clockwise. Then did the same from the bottom. Was I suppose to trun the bow upsidedown to do the other limb? Or leave it in the same orientaion as the upper when adjusting.
