Tying a release loop
 

I want to start using a release loop on my bow. Are there any places on here or any where else on the net that show you how to tie one?

You can get the rope from a mail order place or a pro shop. You must put a know at both ends, burn a ball on both ends, or put epoxy on both ends. That will keep it from slipping. Bigger stores might have loops with pre-tied or burned ends. The best length is a little under 4.5". I would recommend having just one string nock. Good luck.

Thanks a bunch x-ring, really easy to understand that one!! One other question for ya. How far should the loop be from the string? I mean, how much of a loop should there be in the string?

Popular consensus seems to be just enough slack to let your release jaws fit comfortably behind the nock... Tie one knot tight and the other loose, snap on a nock, hook your release to the loop then tighten the loose knot to get just the right fit, then burn/epoxy...
