To bow or not to bow?
 

Hey guys - total newbie here. I need some feedback about some bow issues. I am fairly new to bowhunting - about 9 years. In that time I have been really blessed with some great harvests. I shoot a Hoyt Magnatec (according to the stats about 305 fps) really long and really heavy, it is my first and only bow.
I have this idea that I would like to get a new shorter and lighter bow - so I've shot the Reezen - not impressed at all, I shot the DXT - I kinda' like it and I shot the Tronix at Bass Pro ( I think made by bow tech) - I liked it the best.
I'm killing myself with indecision - money is not the issue and based on stats alone is it really worth spending $750.00 - $1,000.00 to have a shorter lighter bow.
Also, I have a black bear hunt scheduled for September '09 and want to make sure what I shoot is leathal.
Any sage advice here?

As you have already figured out, the DXT will be lighter and easier to carry. It will likely be somewhat quieter and just a little faster than the Magnetec. The new bow will not really do anything your current bow can't do. If you have the money, and enjoy the sport, I'm sure you would enjoy the new bow and you can keep the Hoyt for a backup bow.

The money thing is all your choice. The hoyt will still shoot fine im sure, but if you think a new bow will improve your ability/skill then go at it. I believe it will also boost your confidence as well making you more ready for being "lethal".

If you want a shorter and lighter bow, get one. There are many short light bows out now, i would suggest you also try and shoot the PSE Bowmadness, Hoyt AlphaMax32, and the Bowtech Admiral. They are a few top of the line short bowsthat shoot excellent (I have shot them all extensively) and will probably do what you want them to do.

If you are looking for a Short light bow that is Super Quiet and totally shock free, you would be making a Huge mistake not to shoot a BowTech Admiral.

I would not be surprised if this model takes Bow of the year awards in several places.

MEANV - of coarse you would ? (bowtech corporarte advisory staff) that being said 9 years may not be a newbie ! lol

In closing my admiral should be here in march or so !! i feelin a bit awnry today !
