broadheads
well i missed the sale for the g5 strikers so i didint get them just a few questions.
would the muzzy 3 blade broadheads shoot well with blazer vanes? i have a 60 lb lights out. or would g5 strikers or wasp boss 4 blade sst;s shoot better? so what heads should i get rthat will shoot well with blazer vanes? |
RE: broadheads
It really depends on your setup and how well you bow is tuned. I have been shooting an expandable the past few years, but during practice session, I always shoot a couple of fixed heads to check my bow tune. It'll let you know real quick how close your tune is.
I am shooting a 65lb Allegiance and group Muzzy 3 blades with field tips and expandables out to 40 yards. You can get any head to tune if you have the patience to adjust the bow to the particular head you want to use. I actually decided that for next season, i'm going back to a fixed head, most likely the Muzzy's or maybe Slick Tricks. |
RE: broadheads
Of the heads you pictured, the Nitrons would be my pick; never tried them.
Slick Tricks fly good with Blazers. |
RE: broadheads
I shoot a Mathews Legacy and a bear Instinct, I shoot 100gr Shuttle T-Locks out of both and never had to move the sight from my feild points, I love these heads and think they are one of the best on the market. Give them a look, Very Strong, Fly like a feild point, Fixed blade, You cant go wrong.
|
RE: broadheads
You have the wrong idea. You don't pick broadhead to shoot with a particular fletching. It's the other way around. That and tune, tune, tune.

RE: broadheads
how do i tune my bow? with my old arrows with 4 inch duravanes, nap thunderheads and magnus stingers shot excellent with them. my new arrows are beman ics hunter with 2 inch blazers
i might look at slick tricks. what about the g5 strikers? or the wasp boss 4 blade sst;s? |
RE: broadheads
Nitrons are a great little head. I'm a big Striker fan. They fly excellent are hold up very well. I get great groups out to 80 yards with mine. Although on your original question, I would say that any of the heads you mentioned would fly well if the bow is in tune. The Wasp does have a smaller cutting diameter if that is something you are concerned about.
|
RE: broadheads
even though the wasp has 4 blades the g5 striker has more cutting diameter?
|
RE: broadheads
Okay......
Paper tune the bow: http://www.bowsite.com/BOWSITE/features/articles/tuning/papertuning/indexpt.cfm Slick Tricks fly good from my paper tuned bow, with Blazers. |
RE: broadheads
I shoot about the same setup you have and shoot mainly Muzzy heads,28" ICS with Blazers 100 grain brass insert behind 125 Muzzy 3 blade and Phantoms.I shoot this configuration from 3 different bows and have had great luck with my tunes. That is the magic word, tuned! Mine shoot very close to my field points.

RE: broadheads
It doesn't matter really, all the heads listed are good. Just pick one even if its at random. Put more effort & energy into things that matter more. tuning, etc.
|
RE: broadheads
If i were you i would hold off on buying a bunch of the heads you need. My advice, paper tune and walkback tune. Then, try a couple diff size BH's and see what groups better and which hit closer to your flied points. Once you figure out what weight flies the best with your broadhead then buy a pack or two in the weight you need

RE: broadheads
